mamaluv | Lindsay Lohan on Oct 05, 2009 @ 10:26 pm I read on NYMag that LiLo's debut was a huge flop. If I were a designer, I would be very irritated that someone with little more than their famous (or notorious!) name should be considered my competition.
Having said that, I don't see why some celebs couldn't be great designers. The industry must also allow for natural talent that requires little education to display brilliance. Education isn't everything, but most of us hugely benefit from structured study. |
make-up-junkie | Oh LiLo! on Oct 08, 2009 @ 11:26 am I read about LiLo's horrible flop too! The clothes were horrible - like really heart pasty's??
I agree - there are celebrities that probably who have a natural design sense. I think it's got to be a mixture of both formal training and a natural talent for designing. |
fabulously-broke | Some are doing great on Nov 02, 2009 @ 04:07 pm Victoria Beckham's line looks fantastic.. it's very HER. Tight clothing, belted.. it's really her style and her influence in the line.
So do the Olsens' ... Elizabeth & James looked very wearable as well.
And don't get me started on Gwen's LAMB line.. so cute. Her shoes are freaking awesome too. I saw a pair of them on the TV series Dollhouse with a zippered back? Couldn't stop drooling.
However, none are "affordable"! *sigh*

ishop | Not impressed with Celeb Designers on Nov 02, 2009 @ 04:12 pm Yes, some work out. Mary Kate and Ashley's line is nice, so is Gwen's L.A.M.B. But why can't celebs stick to what made them famous? LiLo should stick to acting. Paris Hilton should stick to being rich and partying. (LOL!) But I think there are getting to be too many wannabe labels from celebs! |
honesttogosh | Celebs Are Lame on Feb 02, 2010 @ 02:32 am I think celebs get bored and then they have no idea what to do. BUT luckily they have a team of money makers. If it is not a fragrance.. it is a clothing line or a combination of both. I can only imagine what they will do next! I mean Jessica Simpson's hair extensions.. they were awful.. |
spotty | more of a brand/label than talent on Feb 02, 2010 @ 08:49 am I think of celebrities' designs and labels as more of a branding than anything. Sure, their name is on the product and their influence is behind the final work. But underneath it all, they have advisers and workers behind the scene who ARE in the fashion industry who understand how take their ideas and fashion them into marketable products. |
