Try Denise & Co @ Sherway Gardens on Oct 03, 2006 @ 04:43 pm
Denise & Co always has a nice selection of gorgeous dresses - generally in the $100 - $200 range. They have this gorgeous silk halter dress that I want but have no occaision to wear it. Also try BCBG Max Azria at the Eaton Centre or Sherway Gardens. They always have nice dresses but they are a little more pricey. Good luck!

I find that if you're looking for a dress that is not too prissy (like for prom) Fairweather has some really nice ones. They have ones that won't make you look like you're trying to be 16, there are ones that are actually quite classy and pretty.
Unique dresses - Blue Angel on Jan 09, 2007 @ 10:15 pm
I have actually bought quite a few dresses from Blue Angel on Bloor/Runnymede in the High Park area. Dresses are not too pricey and at least that way you know you are not showing up at a wedding wearing the same few dresses that came out this season as everyone else.
Anne Hung & Want Boutique; Wish we have a bluefly in TO on Apr 09, 2008 @ 09:45 am
Hi all, wedding season is coming up. So, I'm in the market for a formal-ish cocktail dress. I was thinking of checking out Anne Hung on Queen West and Want Boutique. Apparently Anne Hung is a local designer who graduated from Ryerson. She mainly does dresses and they'll alter it for you on site, which I think is really important since I'm a petite (read: short) 5'1-1/2"! Want Boutique is famous for their dress selection, was featured on cityline recently.
Anyone been to these two stores before? Any comment?

Those boutiques and others on the Queen West West (west of bathurst) are awesome. I also recommend checking out Girl Friday (also a local designer) and the other shops on the strip. I'm pretty sure Pho Pa has dresses too. Have fun! Love dress shopping.

Guys have it cheaper for so many things: haircuts, a lot of clothing... you don't have to buy nearly the paraphernalia we women do (i.e makeup, certain healthcare items).... and you don't have to give birth.... well, not until Oprah. ;)
tailoring's never cheap on Apr 10, 2008 @ 09:12 am
lol, I agree with misschickie about how guys need less stuff to put together an outfit.
And, tailoring is never cheap for guy or girl. It can add 20% to the cost of the outfit. So, boo for being short! I mean, petite. ;P
R&W on Apr 11, 2008 @ 09:29 am
R&W co always has a big selection of dresses and they are usually really cute! I think they cost about $80 and up. their summer stock is in now. I always find something really cute... but I have so many dresses and no where to wear them I can't justify it now. :(
great question! on Apr 11, 2008 @ 12:27 pm
I too have a wedding end of the year and need to buy a dress this summer (since it is a beach destination wedding). I want to come into Toronto to shop as there is more variety. I really want to go back to Fashion Crimes, a store from the shop crawl, as they had beautiful dresses, each one original and beautifully made. They will probably be more expensive, but no one at that wedding will be wearing the same dress as you! I will also try some of the other stores suggested here, and I will have to take hemming into consideration, as I too am short! I am hoping stores that actually make their own clothing line can alter them for me - a store in china town once did that for me, on the spot!
