Is it faux pas to wear the same outfit 2 days in a row or more than once in a week? I try to change up my outfit every day but sometimes it gets tiring trying to come up with different outfits with the same old clothes. What do you chicks think??

Not two days in a row on Mar 19, 2016 @ 12:40 am

Definitely not two days in a row. But through the week, twice is fine. Are you new to the corporate working world?
If so, invest in a few basic pieces of higher quality that you can mix and match with other pieces in your wardrobe. For example, take a classic black pencil skirt and add different tops for different looks.
I would say you can't go wrong with a pencil skirt, a shift dress or a-line dress, a fitted white button down shirt, a black blazer, well cut black trousers, a long cardi, basic solid fitted tshirts you can dress up or down, dark denim that you can dress up, classic black pumps, a black fine knit sweater.
Add them to other pieces you own. You don't even have to spend tons of $. There are wonderful thrift shops out there and you can get tons of looks for not a lot of money.
I'm just assuming you're new to the work world and have to dress the part but even if not, these are classic, basic pieces you can mix and match together and with items you already own. Plus you can dress them up or down.
Google how to wear a shift dress 10 different ways and that should give you some inspiration :)
Above all else, make sure the items fit you well no matter what your size. A tailor can be your best friend!

Je pense que 2 jours de suite est un faux pas, mais 2 fois dans la semaine, espacé de quelques jours, il n'y a pas de problème à mon sens. On peut changer les accessoires et personne n'y verra rien.

@greekbymarriage: great suggestions! :) For years I have been pairing a different top with black bittoms for years ... to the point where I'm getting paranoid that people might think i own only one pair of black pants and one black skirt, lol. I have tons of different tops and try to replenish every year so the look doesnt get boring. Do you think maybe i should step out of my black bottoms boundary and go for some colored pants/skirts? Or do you think people wouldnt even notice the black theme on the bottom half of my outfit?!?

@Caro9: Tous les jours je change les accessoires ... un collier différent chaque jour :)

It depends... on Mar 19, 2016 @ 06:27 pm

It's a different story if you wear the same outfit to two different locations (I've done that); but usually I wouldn't recommend wearing the same outfit two days in a row at the same place. Mixing and matching your tops and bottoms can give you quite a range of outfits, especially if you use different textures (jeans, cotton, satin, etc.), patterns and colors. I also love to layer my clothes; this adds a new dynamic to the outfit and allows you to shed layers if you get too hot during the day. Like you said, changing your accessories is great too; I love to layer my bracelets and necklaces as well! Hope this helps! :)

I agree with my fellow chicks, would not wear 2 days in a row, but you can mix it up and wear it more than once a week.
