I'm sure by now everyone has heard about the new iPhone. It is very convienient to have everything all in one (phone, music, camera, internet....)
Sometimes I hate admitting that I like Apple products because their service at the Apple Store is so sh*t that it makes the products seem less stellar.
This phone costs about the same as a PS3. That is like, $800!!!!! Ridiculous amount of money for phone????!!!!
Neat new toy... on Jan 23, 2007 @ 11:02 pm
Yeah an iPhone is a cool new gadget. I don't know if it would work for me though (even though I could currently NEVER afford it). I think of all the cell phones I have gone through and broken and then think of the iPhone and losing my phone, music, camera and internet all in one shot! Not good!
Oh but I want one! on Jan 24, 2007 @ 10:57 pm
I spent too much money on my latest Treo to see it drop like a rock.
Most things suck at multi-tasking for a while until we really understand what we need. I remember a long time ago when answering machines were things you put cassette decks into and turned on!
They will come down in price, there will be more phones with screens but Apple will probably prevail because their "experience engineering" with funky animations and how it's engineering to work with you and not against you is the big diff.

I still think that $800 is way too much. Maybe I'm too cheap or I'm just a starving student (or both...)
Even still, Apple keeps coming up with these new ways into seducing us into their flashy technology. Their ways force us to enter the evils of the Apple Store, with their overcrowded store and poorly trained staff!
I can see why... on Jan 25, 2007 @ 02:51 pm
I can see why one would want an iPhone... flashy, nice, great engineering. I just think that the price tag is too hefty for what it is and not klutz friendly (I would likely break it). I am already neurotic about breaking, scratching or in any other way harming my iPod video! hahaha I guess if I were rich it would be a great toy to buy a man who loves his gadgets!
compromising technology on Mar 26, 2007 @ 03:24 pm
I think the concept behind iPhone and other up and coming gadgets that pack several different technologies into one is fabulous. The problem w/ that approach so far, though, is that each technology is compromised at the expense of the other. The GPS feature may be compromised to allow for better speakers for the mp3 player. The speakers for the mp3 player may suck b/c the design allows for improvements to the pda features. I'll be ready to buy when a product emerges that includes all the personal hand held devices in one package and ALL of the features are offered in their best state (gps, phone, mp3, pda, camera, etc ...)
Yes, there are often too many compromises. on Mar 26, 2007 @ 09:38 pm
I origonally convinced Ali to let me have my Palm Treo650 thinking that it could double as a MP3 player. Oh how I was wrong. The sound quality is terrible.
I'm really hoping that newer stuff like Ali's mp3 phone work a lot better. Just don't loose the transfer cable. We now complete for our Nano!
it's stupid on Mar 26, 2007 @ 10:09 pm
mixing a phone with a pda is like attaching a printer to your car !!!
a pda is a pda
a computer is a computer
and a phone is just ... well you guessed it! a phone!
I have a my Palm pda which does everything i want it to do: be a Personal Digital Organizer ... and occasionally it can do a little bit extra as play mp3s ...
but i never consider it a way to listen to music at all ...
and as far as making phones calls, my palm can connect over bluetooth to my phone dialing the numbers i want for me ... so all i really have to do is pick the phone up and say "hi".
on the other hand the iPhone is just too damn sexy for me not to have !!!
i mean come on it runs osx, which is unix, which is close to linux, which is like the church of geeks :)

I don't have a tech-geek reason for wanting one, I want it because it's just that cool.
Looks cool on Jun 16, 2007 @ 09:41 pm
I think its really convenient, its so cool- a camera phone, internet, music, movies... I love it. the touch screen is awesome
