My niece was visiting for Thanksgiving and while watching Suite Life Of Zack & Cody with her I saw something interesting. Ashley Tisdale's character, Maddy, had these really cute sparkly things in her hair in one episode. I've looked everywhere for pictures but can't find any so I'll have to try to describe them the best I can - and I'm not too good at describing things. lol
They looked like long strands of tiny little sparkly gems clipped close to the roots of small sections of hair. Similar to the effect you can get from those little hair "stickers" but much smaller gems and actually a strand, not all separate.
I thought that was really cute and pretty, and something that would be perfect for the upcoming holiday parties. But I have never seen anything like it anywhere and can't seem to find anything online. Anyone have any ideas?

Most sites I looked at had the hair gems that get clipped on to a strand of hair, either with a magnet, velcro, etc.
I did find one site though where you could get strands that you weave in to your hair, but I think it's more for an updo, that you would kind of thread through the hair. Though it may be possible to attatch it to the root and have it hanging. I found them at this site (at the bottom of the page):
I am still looking..I'm determined to find these! lol

I managed to find these which seem similar to what she had...
But hers did not have noticeable clips and were more sparkly than I suspect those beads would be. You could only see them when the light hit them just right; it was so pretty. I wish I could find a picture of them in her hair! lol
Looking at those beaded hair strings though, now I think maybe I can come up with something on my own and make my own version. Right now I'm thinking I know how I could do it but I won't know for sure till I try it out but I will definitely let you know Nik05 if I can figure it out or if I find anything. :D

Ooh I've seen hair clips like that before, but yeah, like those...the clip part is noticeable.
If you're still wanting to find an actual picture of her wearing them, and remember the episode...try looking here:
After searching for a bit, I found that site with episode pictures and tried looking around for an image of them in there...but there's too many to go through! lol

I sprained my ankle tonight and can't do much right now anyway so I will have plenty of time to go through the pictures. lol Thanks for the link!
|Something like this? on Dec 03, 2007 @ 02:43 pm|
I wore something similar to what you described for my wedding. My hair is black, so the clip I had was black with small rhinestones forming a delicate flower on a clip. Attached to this clip, there are several black "strings" with rhinestones on it and the stones are about 1-inch apart. My hair dresser put the clip on the side of my head and then weave the strings through out my head so my hair had a subtle spark to it.
I don't have a picture of it here at work, but it's something very similar to this:
I bought hair clip from the Toronto Pacific Mall (asian mall). It was expensive but very pretty.

OK so I've gone through all those pictures (yeah I have no life lol) and the episode was "I Want My Mummy" but none of the pictures there really show the pretty hair things. You can sort of see them in a couple of them if you look really closely, but not really.
I'd had the idea to use fishing line to make a strand of beads/crystals and loop one end over a bobby pin but that didn't really work out too well. Partly because bobby pins seem to just slide right out of my hair in an instant, but it also just didn't look right.

I found some in my search online at the seenontv thing online. They are tattoos for hair, applied with a straightening iron. check it out! http://tinyurl.com/yshc6t

I remember seeing those on tv. They're pretty but nothing like what Ashley had in her hair though. And I don't heat style in any way and looks like you need heat to apply those - and how would you even get them off without damaging your hair in some way? Yeah I'm weird when it comes to my hair. :p
I was able to find a way to contact Ashley herself and felt ridiculous but asked her about them LOL. Probably never going to get an answer but I figured it can't hurt to try. :)

the beads could have been threaded directly on her extensions and knotted there.

I've thought of that too. Kind of hoping I can find/come up with something a little faster/easier than that. But I did see a little gizmo at Wal Mart for about $15 that would put beads on your hair while I was Christmas shopping for my niece. I may just have to pick it up for myself and give it a try. :)
