so I spent my lunch break browsing online and was about to purchase two
designer items for great prices on giltgroupe.com and then when i was
going to check out, couldn't enter my credit card info... I called
their customer service and they only accept credit cards with a US
billing address.. SO frustrating
Has anyone found a way around this? Why won't they accommodate canadian customers??

Unfortunately, Canada is still in the dark ages when it comes to online shopping. I have had this happen to me as well. There are some good sites that do ship to Canada though. We'll be pulling together a list when we feature our online shopping episode.

I live in BC, and if Im going to order online and won't deliver to Canada, I rent a mailbox at a town across the border close to me, or use the business ShipHappens. I use their address and pick it up at their building and pay them a minor price. Anyways, hope that helps.

theres companies out there where you can pay a small yearly (or one time fee) and they give you an american billing address, then mail your products to you i forget the name, cause i don't do much online shopping

If you have a gift certificate to Sephora that you purchased in Canada, you cannot use it to make an online Sephora purchase. It can only be used in store! I found that out the hard way... but hopefully they will have that option available soon.

Have definitley come across this, and the alternative is just to find an alternative!
If you all haven't checked out this site, you should. Amazing clothes and the boutique often discounts 20% off of everything. Shipping is free to Canadians too....oh AND then accept Canadian credit cards!

I am an American who recently relocated to Toronto (married a Canadian). I don't know if you could ever get to the U.S. but if you could, they sell 'prepaid' Visa cards at drugstores (and maybe Walmart). You could load one of those up in the States and then use it to shop online? Just a suggestion.
I (luckily) still have a US bank account and just purchased a mailbox space at the border-I have the people at the mailbox store send me all my things (at the cheapest rate of course).
