Has anyone ever worn them?
I am attending a wedding of a high school friend and I would like to look good even though I gained weight. I'm not expecting or wanting to magically look 20 pounds lighter, I do like my curves, I just want them to look smoother.

Or maybe you have a suggestion for a spanx like product. How comfortable/costly is it?

I haven't worn it myself, but I know someone that has and it looked
really good on them. They said it was as comfortable as expected, but I
think it also depends on what you get. They have half's, fulls all
different things you can put together. I'd say your best bet would be to
go to find a please that specializes in spanx and good try some thing

Winners!! on Apr 16, 2012 @ 11:33 am

Hey Luxx, I've seen Spanx at the little spanks stalls in the malls, but they were a bit expensive. I went to the closest Winners and picked one up for less than $20!

It's not comfortable, I don't care what anyone tells you, but it's not. I don't expect it to be; it's holding all the extra pieces in so how comfortable could it be? But it does give the smoothing effect you're looking for. I personally don't wear it 'cuz I wear lose fitted clothing so the smoothing doesn't really make a difference on me, but I would wear it if I was wearing something more fitted.

Love Spanx! :) on Apr 16, 2012 @ 12:07 pm

Spanx are awesome!
I bought mine when they first came out, so i'm not sure what I spent.
There are several different kinds of Spanx and even Spanx tights!
I believe mine are the In-Power Line Super Higher Power. It's been awhile and I don't have the package anymore, but that's what they look like!
It seems like they offer a much larger selection these days!
At the time when I bought them I wanted them to help smooth myself out for a dress that just wasn't overly flattering on me anymore.
I found them to be amazing. They made me feel a lot more confident.
I still wear them to this day :)
They are obviously a bit tricky when you need to use the washroom. They have a slit in the bottom in case you didn't want to take them off to pee. But I always pull them down whenever I have to go so it's a bit tricky :/
Not long after I had my pair, I convinced my mom to get a pair too. She also loves them! :)
Make sure you get the right size!! And don't size-up out of fear. They are hard to get on, but that's the point!
Shops should have a pair you can try on :)

I've tried them on before, but I've never worn them for a long period of time so I'm not an expert. I can tell you that I used to work in a lingerie store that sold them and that they were a bestseller, I have friends who swear by Spanx as well (not just curvier ladies either, lots of women just like the smooth shape they give).

I would also suggest control top panty hose- I do wear these (although it is spring, not really ideal pantyhose season) and they are a cheaper alternative to the Spanx.

a trick! on Apr 18, 2012 @ 03:01 pm

I don't own a pair of actual Spanx, but I do have a girdle I bought at Walmart that does the exact same thing for a lot cheaper! Again, like previously mentioned, I don't find it the most comfortable thing in the world, but for special occasions, I bust it out!

A trick I do use when my control top pantyhose have a tear in them, is cut off the bottom of the legs and use them as control top shorts under my skirts! Offers a little tummy control, doesn't let my thighs rub, gives that smooth look you're looking for, and are a lot more comfortable!

rolling over the top... on Apr 19, 2012 @ 10:57 pm

I am curious about Spanx too, so I will watch this space.

@luxx, I was maid of honour in a wedding and wore a fitted dress, so I bought a spanx-like thing. Not cheap. Like bicycle shorts only a bit longer. There was some wiggling to get into it, it was not comfortable (I don't wear control anything though I should!), and it created a roll of flab at the top. I think one which went as high as the rib-cage would have been better. I willed myself to not fidget with it all evening, and it did the trick... I looked smoother and swelter.

Definitely go with the ones that go up to the rib cage!
They are tight enough to make anyone "muffin top"
But the ones that go up high make everything so smooth and tight :)

What a great idea, I will have to try this.
