I don't really have anything against sweatpants, I think they are great for bumming around the house and going to the gym in. What I don't get are people who wear them out - and try to dress them up. Tucking them into your boots and pairing it with a little top and a trendy jacket doesn't take away the fact that they are still sweatpants, and are almost impossible to look good in (yoga pants, however, are great!). I realize they are comfortable, but jeans can also be comfortable, and if you are going to take the effort to wear make up and a nice top, you can take the time to pull on a pair of jeans. There was many a time in university i would feel tempted to go bummy to an exam after staying up cramming all night, but always ended up properly dressed, as i felt it added to my confidence to be normally dressed.
Why are sweat pants worn like this? Is it the comfort, or are university students going for a shabby chic look? It's so hard to look good in them!
And I would never date a guy who wore sweats. Call me a snob, but I am an ass girl and it is almost impossible to see asses in them!
AH HA! on Apr 28, 2009 @ 11:55 am
I agree Nessie...not meant to be dressed up at all. As for dating a sweat pants guy, yeah me neither...not because of the a*s thing but more so because I would think if he thinks sweats are appropriate to wear out on a date, that he is just plain lazy. Ah well!
LOL @ 'ass girl' !!! on Apr 28, 2009 @ 03:41 pm
haha Nessie thats so cute "ass girl" ....LOL !! and yup i completely agree with you! Sweatpants should be worn inside the house or inside the gym - ONLY.
The only thing worse than sweat pants is flanel sweatpants...(sorry i'm drawing a mental blank on what they're actually called).. i'd also not date a guy who wore sweatpants outdoors.. doesn't look good at all!

oops! the flanel ones are called sweatpants and the other ones are called trackpants right? well trackpants are still no go, but tolereable, but sweatpants? no way...

my sweat pants are for around the house only!
i could not bring myself to wear them out even for running errands

is it bad to wear them while walking your dog and as a warm outer layer on the way to the gym?
even the sweatpants i have are considered 'fancy' i guess...they have all sorts of embroidery and rhinestones on them...but i still only wear them to the gym and when walking my dog-maybe an EARLY starbucks run (i mean early-7am).
sweatpants out -two thumbs down on Jun 30, 2009 @ 02:43 pm
I totally agree with you. Sweatpants are a nono for outside, especially if you look like you DEFINITELY haven't used them for exercising in a long, long time.
How about... on Jul 30, 2009 @ 10:07 pm
those who wear their yoga pants and put on full makeup and hair with heels.
Why would anyone wear heels with their yoga pants? I see this all the time with younger girls and it makes me laugh. I believe sweats, yoga and track pants are meant for the gym, jogging or lazing about the house.
As for oversized t-shirts and comfy jeans that's the kind of lazy weekend wear that I am all for (as long as they are clean and hole-less)

I guess what everyone consider as visually pleasant differs. You might think sweatpants look unpleasant and shapeless, but some likes the casual and laid-back look. *shrugs*
