Winter To Spring Transitional Outfits

It's been so sunny outside for the past week and the temperature seems to be rising slowly. I'm getting excited to break out the Spring outfits soon! How do you guys normally transition your Winter to Spring wardrobe? Do you pair items differently? Do you layer? Do you slowly re-introduce colour to your style?

Small changes on Apr 15, 2011 @ 02:06 pm

I've started pairing things differently. My first change is always shoes - I ditched my boots for flats last week (although today I'm regretting that as my feet froze!!)

I try to introduce more colour too - it just makes me feel more ready for warm weather! I really dislike wearing all black in the summertime. Even today I feel too wintery in jeans, a deep red blouse and black cardi.

I'm sooo ready to ditch my stockings for bare legs! Hurry up and come summer!

My Winter coat is officially retired for the season on Apr 15, 2011 @ 02:46 pm

Shoes are usually the first to change for me too. I really love my boots but my feet get so hot in them once the weather starts to warm.

I agree with you about colour too, I usually swap my go-to-black for white and the colours get lighter.
I'm also very happy to announce that my leather jacket has now replaced my pea coat!! Good-bye Winter weather!

Can't wait for sun on Apr 15, 2011 @ 02:53 pm

Totally agree with Cathy! When it's nice enough to wear skirts and shorts, I am thrilled.

I also ditched my boots for flats but I live in Edmonton where it's been snowing for the past 2 days so now my boots are back. Sigh. I think I jinxed it.

I tend to wear colour year round because in the summer it's just fun to do and in the winter, I already feel dreary enough. In the spring, I start to wear lighter shirts and dresses though. I also just went out the other day and I treated myself to some brand new colourful rings. That made me feel much more springy too!

Usually at this time of year I head back to the salon to add some highlights and brighten up my look. But I did that a little early this year. I was too excited to wait!

good point on Apr 15, 2011 @ 03:27 pm

@Beachbabe: that's a good point, why do we all insist on wearing dark colours during the winter. It's like we want to feel gloomy!

ugh want to transition but still in search of a trench-did I completely miss trench coats in stores? on Apr 16, 2011 @ 08:00 pm

I am hoping that I can find a trench coat-that's usually a sign that I am thinking spring! I am currently donning my Anne Klein navy spring coat, but have noticed it's fraying on the cuffs (it is 8 years old). *sigh* out with the old and in with the new!

You're not the only one... on Apr 18, 2011 @ 02:21 pm

@meredithk - I hadn't really thought about it until you mentioned it. I haven't seen very many trenches in stores either - at least not a huge selection of them. I was out today and I didn't see very many - only a few in Urban Outfitters and H&M;and non in Gap.

@Lauren - I think Joe Fresh has some cute, colourful (short) trenches, at a very good price. I have seen them, and they look cute, but I haven't tried one out to know what kind of quality they are.

Yes....I saw some in H&M;and saw a commercial for Joe Fresh trenches on t.v.

Even when I was in the states, I saw nothing! Did I miss it? Is it a 'blink and they are gone' kind of thing?
