I'm about to graduate and in the process of starting to search for a job. I need a good "work bag" to carry around to interviews and other meetings. Any suggestions?
(I'm looking into the non profit, communications and public relations areas, if that makes a difference)

I have a nice leather bag that I use for interviews. Mine is a Matt & Nat in a dark beige colour that goes with all my "interview clothes. It has a defined shape (rather than floppy) and it's about the size of a briefcase.
This is not my bag but it has a very similar shape:
I like my bag because it looks professional due to its defined shape. It's big enough to hold everything (most importantly a notepad for your questions for the interviewer) and there are a lot of compartments so that I am not rummaging through my bag during an interview to find a pen. (Or your cell phone if you forgot to turn off the ringer and it goes off during the interview. Don't want to spend 5 minutes looking for it while your interviewer waits for you.)
The only downside to this bag is that it doesn't fit my faux-leather padded clipboard. I carry my resumes and references in it, also maps, contact numbers, etc. It looks professional and I wouldn't go without it. But it would've been nice to fit everything into the bag so I am not juggling 5 things at the same time.
I bought my bag at Winners for about $80.

I would look for any type of leather bag that is big enough to fit your resume and other things. Plain one with less embellishment would be perfect. I would avoid any branded bags (Ones with obvious logo/monogram on the outside). You have a lot of option to choose from! I know roots make bags that are simple but you can add chains and straps from roots to decorated it. This way you can take your bag from work to the street.

I bought mine at Winners, it's a laptop bag/purse. It's very basic- it's black, patent and very simple. I get compliments on it which is surprising bc it's so plain but I think it's the 'shiny' look that makes the bag.
Sometimes Mex has nice briefcases but I would hunt at Winner's first. I'd also consider a plain black leather note case you can find at Staples.
Good luck with your interviews!
