Any body a Baker out there????
What's the trick to a good apple pie... thinking of baking one for Thanksgiving this weekend. I'm a pretty good baker, but apple pie just scares me into being too soggy (possibly).
Do any of you bake over this coming holiday? What do you bake?

I don't make apple pies, but I do have make an awesome apple crisp if I do say so myself. However, I have found out recently that I am gluten and dairy intolerant so baking has become 'tricky'. Just find a recipe you are comfy with and buy a crust (that's often the 'hardest' part) if you don't want to jump into a major project. You can do this!
This year, I am making a dairy free, gluten free pumpkin 'pie' with a homemade pecan crust. I also use this recipe and make pumpkin bars...which are now in the process of disappearing thanks to my husband.
Other favorites of mine to bake are cheesecakes with quark cheese (google it-its awesome) and pumpkin&apple;pie (the pumpkins and apples are in the same pie). Its delicious :)
I am getting hungry just thinking of this....

We will be posting my mom's famous apple pie soon in the restaurants section soon. She's won pie making contests with it :) Apple pie is the perfect dessert for fall because apples are in season.

My husband and I love cooking. Alton Brown from the Food Network has really gotten us to try a lot of new ideas.
