Hey Chick Advisors!
My boyfriend's birthday is coming in exactly 3 weeks and I have no idea what to do! Last year I threw him a surprise BBQ at his house and it was a huge success. This year I am lost of ideas on to how to top it off. I can't seem to think of anything fun that could involve all our friends and families to gather together for this day. We can't have another BBQ at his house because they're doing renovations, and my house is too far for everyone to come (York Region lol).
Does anyone have any ideas on what to do? We'd like to stay in the Markham/Scarborough area since all our friends are here. A dinner kinda thing would be great and perhaps have some drinks and such as well. Pleaseee helpppp meee! Thanks in advance Chick Advisors!

Does it have to involve all your friends and families? If not, how about getting a nice hotel with fireplace and whirlpool bath then order breakfast in bed the next morning.

That's a super sweet idea for something we can do on our own. We sorta live together during the school year so we always spend quality time together. We like to celebrate everything with our close friends and family especially birthdays =P
Thanks for the advise though lucieb! <3
|a shared outing up his alley? on Apr 13, 2010 @ 10:48 pm|
What does he love to do that would be fun to do as a group? Paintballing? Comedy club? Karaoke? Dancing? Cookout at a park plus soccer/baseball/volleyball tourney with everyone?
Dinner is great, but it is rather 'ordinary'. Combining a special fun idea with the best people in his life will be memorable!
If you and the other friends/fam have cash to spare, you might try skydiving together!

The best part about a party is the people. I think you shouldn't stress yourself out to plan the perfect event or one up yourself from last year, rather do something fun with him and his friends that will allow you all to mingle and have a good time. I like to meet up at a great lounge for drinks with friends.
I'm not sure if you are in Toronto but if you are, Barchef is great for a group of 10-15. They have a nice back area you can reserve, order some appetizers and indulge in their amazing molecular cocktails. Or if the weather is really great, you could find a big patio somewhere - if they'll take reservations.
Let us know what you decide!

I just re read and see that you wanted something in the Scarborough or Markham area. Barchef is Queen/Bathurst. I'm not familiar with those areas personally. Anyone else?

Thanks Mamaluv and Ali.
Your ideas of the park cookout and patio sounds great so now hunting the place down. I've always wanted to try Barchef but I'm trying to keep it in the area because a lot of us are still students and it would be difficult for them to get downtown and back up especially after a couple of drinks. Also, some of them don't drive so if it's too far, I'm afraid they won't be able to come.
So far some of my friends suggested Nikada Sushi Robata since we all love love sushi and all love love LOVE that place. I've looked at their drinks menu, it doesn't seem too expensive either ($4 bucks for a beer and $5 bucks for a cocktail).
I'm still keeping options open and all ears for suggestions. Thanks a bunch for your input!! I'm getting closer to a solution :)

I'm hosting my second Murder Mystery Birthday Party this year -we use Playing With Murder (online - you pay and download the detailed storyline, character sheets, etc. - it's epic and SO much fun!).
We have a potluck where everyone brings appetizers or something to eat, BYOB, and have a hoot!
This year we will have Poker, Kareoke, Rock Band, Board games, Photo booth, and more to entertain during and after the mystery.
