Do you ladies ever have those "fml" days where all the small but annoying things go wrong? I normally hate saying "FML' 'cuz I honestly think I have a blessed life and I don't want to sound ungrateful least The One up there gets pissed and really does give me something to complain about. Today though I want to indulge.
So its pouring outside, I'm in the streetcar on my way to work and the streetcar driver just speeds through several lights missing my stop!! We're downtown, it's like he saw a bunch of green lights and raced to go through all of them!! When he finally did stop it was a few blocks away!!! I told him that dude you just flew past a few stops!? What are you doing!? He looks at me with this blank stare, mouth open. I get it he's distracted, but he's driving a streetcar!!! Should he be behind the "wheels" if he's that distracted!? So I and several other passengers walk back in the rain the few blocks to our stops. Sigh.
I'm a techie and the first issue I get is this user's stupid computer isn't powering on. Why me!? FML :-(
I go downstairs to pick it up. The dude's not at his desk, I do a few tests then decide I'll take it back to my desk and troubleshoot. I'm lugging the heavy desktop to the elevators, the guy chases me down, stands there with me carrying the desktop and asking me stupid inane questions; "so what's wrong with it? what are you gonna do to it? how are you gonna fix it?" Seriously dude the only two things I know about your PC is that it doesn't turn on and it's very HEAVY so quit making me stand here answering dumb questions... jeez!
So do you ladies ever have those days where nothing tragic happens but just consistently occurring small annoying things to make your day that much more challenging?

Everything always seems worse when it's grey and rainy outside in my world. Everyone has bad days and I think it's ok to be frustrated by that like a normal human. But you are right, we also have much to be grateful for.

Obviously, you are not alone! What ruffles my feathers the most is when you have a bunch of those "little things" in a row that don't go right! Like you, I also try to refrain from using the ever-so-popular "FML". When things about my job are irritating me, I try to remind myself to be thankful that in these hard economical times I even HAVE a job. When my friends annoy me, I remind myself how blessed I am to be surrounded by people who actually want to hang out with me lol. Family, the same thing, for there are many out there who have nobody to support them. However, there are times when I'm SO frazzled that I have to remind myself to remind myself to feel and think those things, and thats when I go to my happy place lol. You know, Bora Bora, with fruity drinks and those little umbrellas in 'em! :)

I have those days too. It's tough to keep upbeat when things are just sucking. So, when I have one of those days, I just let myself feel bad for a few hours. I know it seems counter productive but sometimes you just need to feel bad for yourself. Rant about your day. Then get some ice cream, watch a few youtube videos of people getting hit or falling down and then, resolve to pick yourself up!
It's only human to feel bad, so let yourself and don't worry about being ungrateful. It's not about not having those feelings, it's about what you do with them after.
Here are a few things to cheer you up too:
|It happens to all of us from time to time. on Jan 11, 2013 @ 11:57 am|
This whole week has just bin one thing after another for me and all though its Friday, I was just sitting here wondering whats going to happen to me next. Then I read this and you made me stop and think of the all of the things I am thankful for. Usually when I start to get down about my life, or things that have, or that haven't happened, I stop myself and think about all of the people in this world that are far worse off then I am. I think about what I do have and all the thing others don't. I may not be rich, have a big house and a new car, but I have what I need to survive, my family and friends around me and that's all that really matters. It's the people that aren't thankful for what they have that should be giving their self's and their life a good look, not you. I hope your day gets better Becky and you have a great weekend!!
|Just had one of these two days ago... on Jan 11, 2013 @ 04:28 pm|
It's funny how our moods change, isn't it? On wednesday I had one of these days (ps love that you call them FML days, totally adopting it!) and every little thing was piling up and annoying me, nothing seemed to be going right...so I decided to go work out (usually when i'm really frustrated getting on the treadmill and running for a while helps me get all that pent up aggression out, plus, hey, it's exercise!) but while I was running I was trying to get the TV to turn on and it wasn't working, so I ended up getting super frustrated and throwing the remote across the room, turning the treadmill up to 9 and just given'r for about 5 minutes. Then I was like ... "what the hell am I doing!?" and started to laugh uncontrollably. Just the image of myself throwing the remote and sprinting alone in the gym cracked me up so much, and I couldn't stop!
So I agree with alexjc, whether you have to let yourself be sad for a while, or (like me) have to get really angry and have a mini spaz attack or hissy fit, let yourself do it. Because afterwards you'll feel so much better! Everyone always says "life's a rollercoaster", you gotta go up the hill to get back down, and there's always another one coming. So don't sweat it, and I think coming on here to rant is a perfectly good way to get your anger out...because that does indeed sound like a FML day!
