Being from a city that houses 2 universities on the same street I've experienced my share of St Patty’s festivities. You can't walk down the street without wearing green or you’ll be called out, or chased. Every 4th house on the street is having a party; some start as early as 10:00 AM and by noon frat boys are rolling bottles off the roof.
I've never really been super into celebrating non-church calendar holidays, but I do usually grab a festive drink or treat from Starbucks or something.
Do any of you celebrate St Patties Day? Do you go out at night or do you do something special during the day?

Where I live, it's very common to get pinched if you're caught not wearing green. And no - green undies or tiny green earrings do not count!
I also usually make my family a fun snack that's St Paddy themed, but other than that we don't make a huge deal of it.

@Laurenblair: St. Patrick's is a church holiday! It's SUPPOSED to be to honour St. Patrick by going to church, wearing green shamrocks and having a feast. But let's face it: that's not why most people get excited for the day!

Yes, cathy it was to honour ST Patrick. I guess I should have said Biblical holiday like Easter or Christmas. I don't celebrate All Saints Day either.
@mumaluv - haha, I've heard so many people use the undies excuse!

@Lauren - well I guess you'll have to pinch them the next time they try that excuse then ;) That'll teach 'em!
