Is wine with lunch and dinner ok?

My mother is anti alcohol. She has never consumed any type of alcohol in her life.  I enjoy a glass of wine with lunch and one with dinner most days of the week (a habit I picked up when I lived in Spain) and she accuses me of being an alcoholic. I can enjoy those meals without wine, but I do love to pair my foods with a wine. Is she right?

Mom, loosen up. on Feb 25, 2015 @ 01:41 pm

If you are not harming yourself or others and your bills are always paid, that is just cruel to say.
I assume you are old enough to make the choice, so she should trust you and respect that you are grown.
I would respectfully ask her to back off the subject, reminding her that you are old enough to decide what to and what not to drink. Just because she chooses not to drink, does not make you an alcoholic because you do. No matter how much you drink.
Hurtful opinions do no good for anyone.

As long as it's not interfering with your life, whether it be work or personal, it's not a problem. From the sounds of it, it doesn't sound like anything bad. As long as you're not drinking like, a bottle with every meal or something, there's nothing wrong with it. Not to mention it's a nice way to relax after the stress of a long day!

There is nothing wrong with pairing a nice glass of wine with a delicious meal. I would kindly tell her to back off, that you're not doing anything wrong, and you're not hurting yourself or anyone. Just because she doesn't want to have a glass of wine doesn't mean you shouldn't have to.

Cheers!

Eating and Drinking Wine on Mar 23, 2015 @ 09:11 am

Maybe your mom is from old school and I can see her point, she probably thinks you can't have a meal without having wine with it and maybe it is true. Why don't you, when having a meal with your mom,not have win just to keep her happy and have the wine with your meals,if that is your choice when she is not around. You never said if you lived with your mother or not,I assume you don't and have her over for lunch, every now and then.If so,have your wine after she leaves.

Wine with Lunch or Dinner on Mar 23, 2015 @ 09:48 pm

I really do not see nothing wrong with having a occasional glass of wine with your dinner or lunch as long as your not driving. I love wine even though I just drink once in a great while but if I do wine is my number one choice.

If it is just one glass with lunch and one with dinner that is not a problem. If only becomes an issues if you find that you have to have it.

I don't see a problem with it at all, 2 glasses of wine a day is fine just as long as you don't use it to deal with your problems because then it becomes an addiction. But to me it doesn't sound like you are addicted at all, you just enjoy a nice glass of wine and that's ok! :)

It's just a glass with lunch/dinner. It's not like refilling over and over!

A glass of wine with lunch or dinner is not out of the ordinary. If it's something you like and you're not overdoing by drinking an entire bottle at each meal lol which would not be the greatest thing for your health, than if it makes you happy, do it.
