I was just wondering if anyone else noticed that there have been less free samples given out directly from companies lately?
I have been getting a lot of full sized products from companies like Chickadvisor, BzzAgent, and Influenster, which I love and am so thankful for. I was just trying to think of the last time I received a sample directly from the company that was selling it. I just received a Garnier Whole Blends sample, but can't remember the last one before that. I remember I used to received Tide Pods, Cascade Platinum, Biore pore strips, Mr. Clean Magic Erasers, and Downy products all the time. I am not complaining in anyway, I was just curious if anyone else noticed less samples lately. Maybe companies are finally getting tired of all the complaints from unappreciative people or it just costs too much from what they are actually gaining from it.
I remember how excited I would get from just receiving one Tide Pod to try in the mail. I definitely feel spoiled with all the full size products recently.

I have received 1 or 2 Dove for men travel size shampoos and other sample pack size ones in last 3 months but other than that last year I received a huge haul of samples from P&G ... tide, swiffer duster, and many other of their products. But other than that I'm just waiting for SampleSource (samplesource.ca) to release their spring samples especially I missed their last one.

Samples from companies directly are true sample sizes - I tend not to get a lot from those, and I also find I'm really unable to truly gain a feel for the products if there is only one use out of them.
If they are working with larger programs, like Chickadvisor and BzzAgent, they likely feel they will get more and better reviews, hence repeat business, vs a one time sample.

I have received lots of samples lately. I had full size shampoo and conditioner from Garnier a while back. And since then whole blends twice and at least one more coming. Plus good coupons with them. I received pore samples too. More ordered and coming.

I think you are right - the "little surprises" in the mail seem to be less often lately. Even coupons directly in the mail seem to be less often. My friend and I were talking the other day and wondering if the postal rate increases are making a difference in the way companies are reaching out. I love online interaction, but sometimes a paper coupon in the mail can make my day :-)

I have signed up for at least 25 samples lately and haven't received one. I did get a sample from garnier but not the right sample. I never got the full size bottles. Chick advisor I never get anything. Bzzagent has been the only thing I get stuff from! I think a lot of the samples on savealoonie and other sites were just scams! Hoping I get stuff from Sample Source:)

I agree with Crystal. The whole point for me to use a sample is to try before I buy, especially something expensive. If you get only one use you can't really tell if it works for you or not. I'm not into wasting money. A small but generous (several uses) sample is much better but I definitely appreciate the full sized ones, particularly for skincare or hair. You really just can't tell with one or two applications if it will work for you without an adequate supply. I'm not ungrateful for samples, I appreciate companies who provide them no matter what the size, I just think it's in their best interests as well as ours to let us really get to know the product so we can write more informed reviews to spur sales, which is obviously beneficial for them ( unless it sucks lol) but it also makes me go out and spend the extra money on a product that I know works and becomes one of my favorites or even better, something I just can't live without.

I agree. Larger samples are better and give you a better idea of whether or not you like a product.

Check out smiley360 and influinster. Crowdtap is a good one too, however I you miss just one simple thing on the review you get red flagged and after 3 red flagged you are banned from crowdtap.
