Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides

Ok, I'm a huge POTC nerd. I've seen every single movie on opening day and the last 2 both at midnight showings. But I did not wear a costume!

I thought the movie was great and I think I would have enjoyed it just a LITTLE more if it wasn't 2am! It was quite a bit lighter than the last 2 Pirates movies, and maybe even lighter than The Curse of the Black Pearl as well. It was also a little less action packed but I believe this one has a different director. Johnny Depp was amazing as Jack Sparrow and that is what will bring millions of other watchers to see this movie about an adventure in finding The Fountain of Youth. All in all, I did enjoy it and would recommend it to anyone who enjoyed the other 3 as well.

I won't say any specifics as not to ruin the movie, but they did leave the ending a little "open". Could a 5th movie be possible and would this be going too far?

Did anyone else see it last night or is planning to see it this weekend?

My best friend is JUST as excited as you are! She's memorized all the lines in that movie, and learned how to speak with a british accent.

YOU ALREADY WATCHED IT?!?!??!?!!!!?!?!??!?!??!?!

don't tell me don't tell me don't tell me!

....How was Penelope Cruz by the way? I was a little iffy about POTC's choice in her, but she looked amazing in the previews!

Love! on May 20, 2011 @ 12:23 pm

I have all the lines memorized too! My husband has threatened to duct tape my mouth shut when we watch those movies now. lol

I don't want to give away TOO much of the movie so I'll try to keep it vague! I was surprised by their choice in Penelope Cruz as well but I thought she was great especially considering she was 7 months pregnant by the time filming ended! This movie has a different feel from the other ones but anyone who has enjoyed the rest of the movie series will definitely enjoy this one as well.

p.s. The mermaids were SO cool!

mermaaaiiidddsss!! on May 20, 2011 @ 12:37 pm

I remember! Penelope Cruz had to have her sister in as her standing double, right? They look so alike!!!

Were the mermaids the center of the plot? ...OR DO I NOT WANT TO KNOW?
(Sorry, excitement is over the roof right now!!!!)

Can't spoil it! on May 20, 2011 @ 12:41 pm

hahaha You are hilarious! Buuut I will say that the mermaids are an essential part of the movie and leave it at that. I don't want to spoil the excitement! It'd be like knowing one of your birthday presents.
