How is everyone doing with reguards to snow this winter? We had 142cm of snow in just one month and on top of that ,a bad storm that knocked the power Generator out and we were without power for almost three days. The temperature was-34 and we also had a wind chill with that.I thought I was going to freeze to death because my only source of heat is electric. We used a small coleman stove to boil the kettle and heat up something to eat.The worst three days of my life.I'm in Newfoundland by the way.Just wondering if anyone else had something similar happen to them ,so far this winter?

Snow Storm on Jan 13, 2014 @ 11:35 pm

I can relate. We had that big ice storm here in Toronto just before Christmas that left many without power. We were also without electricity for 3 days. It was the worst experience ever - no heat, no light, no way of cooking food. It really makes you realize just how dependent we are on electricity. Luckily it was restored on Christmas day so we were still able to enjoy a small Christmas dinner. The weather has been unpredictable lately. We've had snow storms and -30 degrees weather one week, then we would have temperatures in the positive on certain days. I'm definitely ready for winter to be over.

Bbbbrrrrrrrrrrr on Jan 14, 2014 @ 10:18 am

-34. YIKES. BRRRRR...

I know completely what you mean. I'm in Toronto as well and we went three days without and it was such a GIANT pain. Freezing cold and felt so bizarre to be in a dark, cold house. Plus, it being over Christmas was a let down. Fortunately, ours came on late Christmas eve so we were able to have a nice dinner.

Now, the weather is weirdly mild and warm but SO much water and melting ice everywhere!

Just a mess. on Jan 14, 2014 @ 10:02 pm

I'm in New Brunswick and we had A LOT of snow for awhile.

It knocked out a lot of the power, and some people didn't have power for over a week. Freezing cold temperatures as well, it was unreal. This past weekend we had an ice storm, which made everything HORRIBLE! Then we had loads of rain after that.

But, on the plus side - The last few days have been so mild & warm! Love it.

Hard winter on Jan 15, 2014 @ 08:50 am

This has been the coldest, snowiest, iciest winter I can remember since I moved to Toronto. We have booked a trip to Mexico to escape it for a bit. I don't mind the mild days when we can at least go for a walk but the -20 and worse days make me question why we live here.

Rain ,Rain and more Freezing Rain on Jan 26, 2014 @ 09:48 am

This is about the craziest winter I can remember in a long long time.I don't know what is going on with the weather. So far we have had some very bad snow storms with very high winds and power outages and now we are getting a lot of freezing rain with frigid temperatures.I know we have the windyiest and foggiest province in Canada but for peat sake,we need a break. It is very hard on the hydro bill because we have to keep the heat on bust all the time.I'm in Newfoundland. Is anyone else having similiar weather like this?

snow and cancelled buses on Jan 30, 2014 @ 08:37 am

We have had a ton of snow and ice as well. The ice was so thick that my 285 pound brother in law was walking on top of it. My poor dogs have frozen feet whenever they go out. The kids however love it, no buses were running

Bone chilling! on Jan 30, 2014 @ 08:59 am

We haven't had much snow lately --knock on wood-- but the temperature has been really, really cold. Honestly, I'd rather have the snow than the bone chilling temps.
