YOUR Past Halloween Outfits!

on Oct 07, 2010 @ 12:18 pm

It has always been difficult for me to decide on what to be for Halloween. The main reason is because I'd rather not spend a load of money on something you can practically only wear once!

Last Halloween was the first time I ever put so much effort into a costume! After a lot of thought about the cheapest way to dress-up, and still be original and witty, I decided to be the Paper Bag Princess.

- Large Paper Bags for leaves (you can get it in most grocery stores)
- Stapler
- Tape

I initially tried to make a bustier-type top. Although I did successfully make one, i didn't know how I would put it on and keep it together. Thus I went with a wrap-around.

I think my favorite part of the outfit was my little paper crown :)

What were some of your past outfits? (Pictures would be a nice touch! ;) )

I LOVE this costume!!! You did such an amazing job, I kinda want to copy you this year :)

I always have trouble choosing a Halloween costume! Last year I got strep throat a few days before Halloween so I missed out, but some of my past costumes include:

-Xena the Warrior Princess
-a hockey player (I later got in major trouble from my brother for wearing his autographed Matts Sundin hockey jersey...oops!),
-Sandy from Grease, I was so proud of this outfit, but when I went out at night a few people asked me why I didn't dress up -- what the heck!!!? I can't find a picture of it right now
-and this gem, my alien costume I cut up out of an old dance costume in 1 hour. People thought I was a moon.

so cute! on Oct 07, 2010 @ 04:02 pm

How adorable do you guys look! I have never been anything interesting since 3rd grade when I went as Pippi Longstocking. My mom braided hanger wire into my hair so it would stick out straight sideways. I had waist long hair at that time, so I had to walk sideways through doorways.

Ever since then, I've been very lame in my costume attempts. Boo!

Great outfit wow! From paper bags thats really amazing.I love Halloween!I have always tried to make my own outfits with the exception of buying a few items you cant make. For the same reason you only wear then once and they are so expensive to buy premade. Also theres so much more character and one of a kind when you do it yourself. My fave a few years back was I was Medusa.I got a long black wig and lots of small rubber snakes and braided the snakes through the wig.I also found some 70s style shoes at value village that literally looked like a silver wrap over some bendable wireinside so I wrapped that up my legs and it came up to my kness and looked like snakes wrapping up my legs. Then a black shirt and skirt that I fringed at the sleeves and skirt. Then of course the real fun part doing your makeup all creepy looking!

You guys are awesome! I love 'em. But, since I have very asian parents, I've only been a regular student and a vampire...for an hour. I know, pretty embarrassing :(

Win-win? on Oct 07, 2010 @ 09:41 pm

I love your paperbag princess dress, Jen! I'd totally wear something like that.

I just realized how utterly uncool I am on Oct 08, 2010 @ 09:04 am

A Twitter friend responded that she's gone as Rachel Zoe, Karl Lagerfeld, and Marie Antoinette. Wow! You guys all really bring it!

Now I have to find something b*tchin' to wear this year, but that won't humiliate my kids by association. Ideas?

Oh wait - the very action of me wearing a costume PERIOD is already too embarrassing for them. Best that Mama stays in the lane whilst Darth Vader et al approach the neighbourhood doors.

Very creative on Oct 14, 2010 @ 12:36 pm

I love the Paper Bag Princess costume! That's very creative and you still managed to make it look classy! How long did it take you to make it?

I am in love with the paper bag princess costume! Im also curious how long it took to make it. It looks great, cute and classy. I would never be able to make something that good.

Oh and...! on Oct 14, 2010 @ 12:43 pm

Also how did the costume hold up for the night?
