So one of the many dreds that comes with pregnancy as I discovered especially in these last few weeks is the acid reflux and heart burn. I can take tums or rolaids because the make me sick too much of a chalky texture. Does any one now any other good working things I can do for it because I can't sleep or even talk sometime it's that bad and it even makes me puke on occasion.

I would talk to your doctor. I've heard that eating crackers or unsweetened oatmeal might help but thankfully my heartburn was not bad during pregnancy so don't have a first hand experience. A friend of mine had to get a prescription because hers was super bad and tums did not work for her.

Good luck :)

heartburn on May 23, 2015 @ 11:33 pm

Hi there. I had heartburn and such bad acid reflux a few years ago before my gallbladder was removed. I was put on prescription Protonix, but don't like taking extra pills. My doctor told me an old trick he does if he gets it. He would eat something and put a spoonful of mustard on it or just eat the mustard by itself. It's worked for me and my husband. Mustard has some properties in it that ease the heartburn. If you can try that, maybe on a piece of bread or sandwich. I've eaten the mustard by itself, since I like mustard. Good luck, Ginger.

Hi Foreverlove2010. I have hypothyroidism also and have to watch what I eat. Please call me Ginger and yes, please keep me posted. I'm interested to find out if it works for you too. It honestly does on both of us and my Mom. I much prefer home remedies over a pill. But I have to take one for the thyroid. I read on 1 of your reviews that you avoid fluoride due to this. What does this have to do with the thyroid? Thanks so much for your feedback. Have a good evening, Ginger.

When I was pregnant I also had some acid reflux, and what I found that helped the most was GAVISCON.

Your welcome on May 26, 2015 @ 04:10 pm

Hi Jupiterdime and your very welcome, please call me Ginger. My gastro doctor told me that when I had 13 gallstones. I don't like taking pills and putting things like that in my body. I'm afraid of damaging my liver. It honestly works on me, my hubby and Mom. It will need to be done a few times in order to see if it works on you. I no longer have to take Protonix or does my husband. When I make him a sandwich or potato salad, I just add mustard. That way he's already eaten it before the acid or heartburn has a chance to develop. I love natural remedies. Also, if you have a bad cough, don't take cough meds. Just take a few spoonfuls of honey or Karo syrup (even pancake syrup will do). It coats the back of your throat to prevent the future coughing. Also Apple Cider Vinegar (with the Mother in it) works wonders on all types of conditions, including high blood pressure, flea relief for your fur babies, and overall digestion. I drink a spoonful in my water every day now. Even the mosquitoes won't come near you!! Ha ha. If you need any more tips, just let me know, always willing to help out in any way. Take care, Ginger.
