Amazon Mechanical Turk

Have any of you had any experience working with Amazon Mechanical Turk?

https://www.mturk.com/mturk/welcome

It supposedly allows you to get paid to complete tasks that various websites want to have tested or done for them.

I was wondering how your experience went, how payment works and any other tips or notes to take into account. It seems interesting, but I don't want to commit until I know the facts.

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer!

I remember signing up for it about 6 months ago. You will have to spend hours typing capatcha's and make little to nothing. I think Mechanical Turk is more catered towards the USA. They have more options available. For us Canadians (not sure if it's changed) only typing the Capatcha is available and it's only a few cents or less than a cents each. IMO, it's not worth it.

It's always been available in Canada, but we just don't get very many chances at making some $$ compare to the USA. Everything available was mainly for USA. Maybe it might have changed?

Thanks for the input @jujusamples! I read a while back that it was exclusively for USA, but yesterday I came across a website that said it's international. I did try putting in my Amazon username and password and it let me in.

I don't mind the captchas as long as the tasks are reasonable and you do get paid. You won't get rich working with just this one site, that's for sure, but combine it with other survey sites and it can add to income.

Do you remember if they allowed you to cash out through Paypal or was it only in Amazon gift code funds?

Thanks again!

As I could recall, payments are through Paypal/cheque but you have to reach a min amount. (not sure how much) I only make about $1.00 LOL

I signed up for it this summer and as a Canadian you can only get paid via an amazon.com gift card... which is pretty useless for me. I made $5 in one day for a few hours worth of work... do not recommend!

Thank you for describing your experience @Fleurdelis22. I could put Amazon gift cards to use but it's disappointing that it takes so long to earn funds. I'll have to think about it some more...

Yes agreed! If it was an Amazon Canada gift card I would probably do a few tasks here and there but maybe it will change in the future!

Thanks for clarifying, I must have been reading US payments when I join Amazon MT. I wouldn't have done it at all if I knew it was giftcards. That's impressive that you managed to get $5 in one day. :)

Haha yes! I thought it was for Amazon.ca until I got paid! I did some transcribing which paid a bit more! Haha
