Any ideas for a fun winter weekend?

I am a York University student and have had a VERY stressful year because of the strike ... at the same time, my boyfriend has gone back to school and also got a job that he works 6 to midnight almost every night ... so we really only see each other on weekends now, and are both very stressed. I am trying to think of a fun (but not too expensive) little trip that we could take, either over a weekend, or maybe on his reading week ... I was thinking Niagara falls or something like that but it seems like a boring idea ... I would like to go to Montreal but he's going there with his buddies soon so thats out, and I would also love to do NYC but he's not into that idea.

HELP!!! Does anyone have any ideas??<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

If it's a quick weekend away, I really like Niagara on the Lake. If you're into wine and want a nice cozy getaway, that could be really fun. Niagara falls is really touristy, overpriced and can be quite tacky depending where you stay. Montreal or Quebec city are wonderful and romantic but take a while to get to unless you fly. You could also consider a weekend away to the Muskokas. Absolutely gorgeous, peaceful and beautiful year round. Or look for last minute travel deals. I like hotwire.com, travelzoo.ca, tripcentral.ca and orbitz.com

theme cottages? on Feb 09, 2009 @ 09:05 pm

i heard niagara on the lake has theme cottages .... perhaps try that out? it might be fun... i love the nyc idea ...then again that might be a girl thing hehe :)

why not try this ... make your own appartment into a little getaway. one entire weekend of no phones, no computers, no school and no work. candle light, breakfast in bed, no cooking (unless ur passionate about it... get delivery *room service* )

you can also go snow tubing and stay at a lodge...? may not be too cheap though...

Thanks for the ideas becky!! My boyfriend and I really like the idea of Niagara on the Lake so I think we are going to look into that ... snow tubing sounds like a lot of fun too ... kind of terrifying too though LOL

haha yah I am beginning to think NYC is more of a girls thing lol ... too bad, I would love to go ... I have never been. I am going to have to round up some girlfriends to go in the summer I think
