I had a Turkey come down my chimney. We had to catch it with a net!

Open a window and try and herd it towards it with wide arms! Or get it to perch on a swiffer and put it out of the window!

BIRD IN MY FIREPLACE! on Jan 07, 2016 @ 11:29 am

I know exactly how you feel. I have had birds and also a bat come done mine. They were actually flying around my kitchen. While my hubby hid in the bathroom lol I opened my kitchen front door. I gently took a broom to help sway them to the door. It took a while but they did fly out okay. Good Luck.

That's the best way to do it as it stresses the animal out less! Plus with bats you have to be careful not to get bitten they are big rabies carriers!

Well, I'd heard him scratching and chirping in the chimney just above the fireplace so I opened the flue and saw an entire nest in there. So I put a box underneath the chimney and opened the flue all the way and caught everything in the box. There were 2 live birds and a couple dead ones. One of the surviving ones died, but the other rallied in a few hours and started chirping again, so we took him outside and he flew away.
The thing that makes me angry, is I just had the chimney replaced this past summer and I specially asked the man doing it if he put a grate on top to make sure no animals could fall in. He assured me he did......obviously not.

I'd make a complaint to the company, specifically stating that this resulted in dead birds. If those birds were rare they'd be in real trouble! I'm so sorry you had to experience this Kristine! :(

I have complained and they were like 'oh. That chimney doesn't come with one. We will have to ask that specific contractor if he put one on and if you adked
