Thankfully, my dog has always been on target with his weight. It's too bad cats don't go on walks like dogs do.

We tried so hard to help her lose weight (she gained it while our other cat was sick and we had to free feed), by running her around, but nothing! She looks like a barrel. She had runny poop too (TMI) so we took her to the vet. Now she has medication, but is also on a diet plan. Haha he jiggled her belly.
All three cats now get fed separately and only at certain times. They are driving me nuts meowing, lol.

My older cat is and I feel so bad because she always seems to come begging for more food, but I can only give her so much and I had to cut down on her treats too,it makes her have a huge attitude

I have always been strict when it comes to feeding my pets. My cat will eat everything from dog food to lettuce if I don't watch him. Whenever I bake I have to shut him in another room because he's been known to steal freshly baked cupcakes lol.
Anyways, a few years ago I bought him a food/treat ball. Basically you fill it with their food or treats and you adjust it to accommodate kibble size. In order for them to get anything from it they need to bat/chase it around. Essentially working for their food haha. Maybe something like that would help encourage extra activity? It sounds terrible but it is really smart and effective!

I had a "big boned" who was 20 pounds. He used to steal food from the kitchen countertop. He also had a sweet tooth and loved to steal cookies. He would beg me for my pasta, noodles, rice, chicken and fish. He even preferred dog food over his own cat food cuz the dog food pieces were much bigger. I had to put him on a strict prescription food only diet. He was a sweetie though.

Mine are just crazy affectionate and meowing a lot. I've had to stop brushing their teeth temporarily though as I can't give them treats after!

I like to think I've always been strict, but I'm probably a big pushover, haha. I'm great at training dogs, but cats I'm less strict.
I have the treat ball, but the vet recommended we wait until she's adjusted to the new food until we use it!

My oldest cat used to be a 'fattie', but after his surgery he's skinny now! I like to joke he had a kitty gastric bypass, since they had to take away some of his stomach. He's super sweet too. But my youngest girl who's tubby now never had a problem until now. Fingers crossed we get it under control!
