My cat keeps howling real loud at night. I will run to her to see why in the world she is doing it and then she looks at me like I'm the crazy one.
I mean these meows are so dang loud it wakes my babies up from a deep sleep. She has been doing this every night. She is old (about 17) but she's very active and has a great appetite still. She's a great cat.
Has anyone else dealt with this? Has anyone heard of this? If so - do you know why cats do this?
She's fixed, so definitely not a mating call. Lol

I have this same problem! My cat did this to such a degree that I had to start spraying him with water (but I hate doing that). Many websites say you also shouldn't do this as any attention will encourage them.
But I tried ignoring him for days and he throws himself at my legs, I tried attention, I tried exercise. In short, I tried everything and with the meowing I couldn't get any work done. Many people say some cats are just very vocal and that's all very well and good for those who don't distract easily, but how can I get work done?!
I too would appreciate any advice on this as it's an ongoing problem I deal with.
Is it possible your cat is feeling lonely and needs more attention? Is this a recent problem? Sometimes it's the breed of cat, but if it's recent...I have no idea >_<; Ladies?

I've never experienced this with any of my cats, but my dog has done it - and it's always at night. He usually does it when my parents are gone for the night and he's upset.
Maybe your cats are upset with something?
