Dried flower dilemma

I have many interesting varieties of flowers blooming around my home and I would like to dry some for craft projects. I find that when I dry them they lose color and often change to shades of brown. I heard in the past that there are things that you can dip them into or spray on in order to keep the color, but I can't remember what they are. (I am looking for inexpensive options.) Please let me know your tips for keeping the color of the flower as vibrant as possible after drying and if you have any homemade solutions that you put on them. Thank you.
