When my son and daugher-in-law to be had theirs last summer all they wanted was cash to help with the wedding. I am not sure what kids nowadays are looking for but this was my "kids" wanted.

For both or just the bride? on Jul 14, 2016 @ 02:15 pm

I would create a box full of the favorite stuff either for her or both of them and some treats, you can put bath stuff, a bottle of champagne and things you know they love.

Gift certificates to dine somewhere special is a nice gift for an event like this.

honestly, with all the engagement parties I've been to last few years (family members, friends, including myself)

cash is always the best appreciated
or a gift card wrapped in a cute wedding frame, family frame etc

end of the day money goes a long way , and the married couple to be can plan where and what they want to use that money towards.

A gift card to a home store or even homesense or winners as it has everything is great too.

For my engagement party I got cash, gift cards and a really nice crystal keepsake that had the day we got engaged engraved on it. Depends on how close you are to the couple I guess.

Wow. People get gifts for engagement parties? Plus bridal shower and wedding?

Thank you everyone ... One more question on Jul 14, 2016 @ 10:34 pm

I've never been to an engagement party so wasn't to sure of proper etiquette. Thanks for the great ideas. I love the photo frame and gift card/cash idea.
Another question is ... How much is a decent amount when it comes to cash:gift card at a engagement party??
Thanks for the help everyone :)

Honestly its a token , doesnt have to be too much as you're right there is bridal shower, wedding etc,

Me personally I give $100 from my husband and I.

If someone closer to we give more, but we feel $100 is a fair value.

I received gift cards 50.00, 75.00, 100.00 and quite frankly I was appreciative of them all. I didn't even notice how much each was for until after the party because I was too busy reading the cards I was given.

How about a restaurant gift certificate, maybe a framed pic of the two of them together, or one of him for her, or her for him???
