Expired or Best Before??

I know there is a difference between expired and best before dates but do you think stores should be allowed to sell products that have surpassed both those dates? Many stores do....I have learned after a few bad experiences to be very cautious of sale and clearance items, always look for the date! Personally I don't think they should you never know if it could be potentially harmful to your health!

Agree. Expired means expired and should be pulled off the shelves.

I know yogurt is good for 2 weeks after the expiry. I agree they shouldn't sell close to the actual date.

Stores shouldn't be allowed to sell stuff that is overdue. I once bought soy milk and realized it was 2 weeks old and when I tried returning it the cashier gave me a hard time and said lots of people still buy it when it is overdue. I said well I'm not one of those people! Gross.

That's gross. And has to be against some kind of regulation.

expired?? on Mar 22, 2016 @ 05:08 pm

A couple of weeks ago I bought a Chapman's sundae. It tasted funny and my son said it was off. We checked the date and it expired on Nov 15/2015 Next day I took it back and got a refund and was told "it should have been ok" Not nice.

I'm weird about it, but that's sort of the problem. Use by is important. Best before is a general guideline and many products are fine long after.

But stores should make it extremely clear when it's past and it should be highly discounted.

Nearly expired on Mar 22, 2016 @ 10:34 pm

I stay away from the nearly expired stuff unless I will be consuming it the next day. I have been burned before. I felt really sick from carrots... only a couple days after the best before day. They didn't even taste funky but my body sure hated me for that.
