Hi ladies! I thought of writing a general mention about the consistent posts from user "jashley", here on the forum. Her posts are usually titled, "Friend from church doesn't like me" or something similar to this. I noticed another such post just surfaced and some of you are still giving her advice, bless your hearts!
Unfortunately, or fortunately (since the behaviour does seem a tad on the obsessive side), these posts are being created by a spam robot and not an actual human user of the ChickAdvisor site, although there may be someone behind the bot, getting a kick out of reading our intelligent answers. Thanks to the help of some smart chicks, we put our heads together and figured this mystery out during the last post. We found the same exact stories (word for word) on many online forums and some also have seen them on Facebook pages.
I'd like to repeat what many have said, that you are a group of caring and reliable people who are always ready to give great advice when needed. However, I felt you should be made aware because it's sort of making a joke out of us at the same time since "jashley" never really responds to the advice given. We mentioned it in the last post but some of you may not have seen it or read through the entire 3-4 pages of discussion where this was all figured out. ChickAdvisor did say they would look into this and the posts have been flagged.
I hope this helps you in finally realizing why it was getting to feel a little weird (at least it was for me). Have a good evening ladies!

Despite all the repetitive posts, the chickadvisor community still continued to help out. It never ceases to amaze me how you lovely chicks help anyone out! I personally didn't write any advice because all of you guys on the thread said it better than I could've. I really love how we as a community support one another. Unfortunately in this situation, we were dealing with a bot as it was figured out. Thanks prettyrainbow for making this post for everyone to see! I hope you're having a good evening too :)

I did not see it figured out at all. I'll definitely flag them from now. I was wondering why she couldn't seem to shake the paranoia. Thanks prettyrainbow!

Thanks @dandy_123! It's definitely the best online community around!!
@wonderwhatif That's what got me wondering too and then I noticed her profile page was empty except for all these posts - no reviews at all - which got me thinking, either she's really desperate for answers or it was spam. In a way, I'm glad it is spam because the behaviour described made me think she could very well have become a stalker and that was cause for concern.

To me it just made me worry she had crazy low self-esteem. :( It's kind of a weird thing to have a bot for though.

Thanks prettyrainbow for putting the warning out there. It is really sad that some people get entertainment out of this. It is indeed plastered all over any forum that allows the program to. At least from all of this I know that if I ever run into a problem, there are so many lovely chicks that will be there by my side. It is conforting and nice to see how many chicks came to jashley's rescue. What a great bunch you ladies are! Kudos to all of us. :)

I just went to read the new post. This is some serious smart programming. I guess the programmer knows we caught on. Here is what's funny,
The poster of the topic is now anonymous and Jashley responded. Ha!

I did see the new post the other day and responded on it, but again - the positive for me in all this is that so many people were first willing to try and help "her," and then when it got weird, so many people were involved in putting all the pieces together. What a great group this is!
Happy Friday everyone!
|Gold star! on Jun 17, 2016 @ 06:06 am|
It was frustrating reading her posts, and her not obviously taking anyone's advice!
Bots these days!

Bots were bots and people were people :D:D:D?

After you ladies cracked the case, I googled the user and sentences and found the same thing on dozens of boards, everything from parenting boards, autism awareness, Christian sites. On one board they actually tracked her down...there is a real person behind the bot. why am I flashing back to the Wizard of Oz when Dorothy pulls back the curtain ;-) ?
I just can't figure out what someone gains from doing this....very strange indeed.
