We just found out that my special needs brother has diabetes and he can’t eat any of the goodies that I usually make him for Xmas.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
I’ve never had to feed anyone with diabetes before and I’m stumped as to what I can make him.
So I thought why not ask you lady’s.
If anyone has some goodie recipes that are safe for people to eat that have diabetes and you wouldn’t mind sharing, I’d really appreciate it if you could help me out.
Simple things like Xmas goodies make him happier then a sweater ever would. So I feel so bad not being able to make and give him what he looks forward to every year.
With any kind of luck I’ll be able to find a good substitute and still make him happy this year.

My dad has been diabetic for as long as I can remember, and when making sweet dishes, my mom always just swaps sugar for splenda. Just remember the splenda doesn't sweeten the same way sugar does, so taste test what you make to ensure it still tastes the way you want it to.
You can also talk to your brother's doctor and just let him know of the general menu and see if your brother will be okay eating those things (e.g. things that are high in carbs, etc).

My mom started using splenda, but I thought there would be more to it then just changing the sugar in a recipe to splenda. I guess I shouldn't always think something is hard just because I've never done it before. I'll give the splenda web site a look over, thank you for your help becky.
