We inherited granite counter tops in our kitchen w/ our new house.
They're great and all, but how do you clean them?? No matter how many
times I wipe them down w/ a cleaner (windex, fantastik, etc) there is
always a dusty filmy residue left behind. Are our counters really
We've read that the counters need to be sealed and the way to tell if
they've been sealed is whether or not water beads up on the surface.
Water definitely does not bead on our counters. So we'll be looking to
apply sealant. Maybe that will help to keep our counters clean.
Any other advice or experience w/ granite counter tops is greatly appreciated.

Hmm... that's interesting. I don't really have that issue with ours,
so your theory may be correct, but I also find that paper towel with
windex or another spray cleaner is the most effective way to deal with
streaks. For cleaning I usually prefer to use soft microfiber cloths I
can wash and re-use but for counter tops, mirrors and windows, nothing
beats paper towel for getting rid of streaks.

.... ask at Home Depot/Lowe's/hardware store. Take a few pics and show it to them - they'll point you to the right products and, in the case of Home Depot and Lowe's, might have a Saturday workshop on the very topic.
For even better advice, you should ask a contractor, but this is probably a good start.
