When out doing some shopping at Costco this weekend I actually came across Christmas trees and decorations, How early is to early. I think at least wait until after Halloween to bring stuff out into the stores and until after rememberance day to decorate.... whats your opinion....

A little too early.. on Aug 24, 2015 @ 10:34 am

Don't get me wrong, I love Christmas, but jeesh that's just a little too early! It's not even September! I agree, wait for Thanksgiving and Halloween to pass THEN the bombardment of Christmas-everything can come.

I couldn't believe it! It seems like stores are putting things out earlier and earlier each year. I love Christmas too but to me this is just way to early.. I mean kids are not even back to school yet...

I learned recently that most businesses rely on the holidays since they can sometimes make up for 50% of their annual sales. With this in mind, I can understand why they would need to start marketing and selling way in advance. However, for the average shopper, it does feel strange and sort of confusing since we're still enjoying our summer months. I would like to start thinking about the holidays when the weather gets colder, not when we're still in our shorts and t shirts, but at the end of the day, the business looks at their own pockets and how to gain the most profit.

I work in retail, and while we don't sell Christmas decorations, we did start selling sweaters in July, and recently we just got ski pants and winter coats, so I know the pain. Personally I think that it's too early for that type of stuff. As for Christmas decorations, in my family we always waited until December 1 to decorate for the winter holidays. That way we wouldn't be completely sick of the decorations by the time Christmas actually rolled around. I do have some American friends and since their Thanksgiving is later than ours, as soon as Thanksgiving is done in November they bust out the Christmas decorations. But to have Christmas decorations on sale right now is a little crazy, especially because I don't think Halloween decorations should be out until, at the earliest, September 1. Seriously, right now everyone is doing their back to school shopping-- 99% of people aren't looking for Christmas decorations right now.

Most of the stores here in the US have begun to put the Christmas items out with the Halloween stuff. I think they should wait, it's way too early for this. Also here, they have put Summer clothes on clearance or put them up and already have the Winter clothing out! I still need Summer clothes, since it gets so hot here. This has always annoyed me to no end about the clothing! Since we have a large family, I shop year round for Christmas gifts, but believe they should wait until at least Halloween is over. Also here, I've noticed the past few years people putting up their Christmas decorations and lights before Halloween! That's just way too early for me, although it's very pretty, just too early. I use to put ours up after Thanksgiving, but now that I'm older, the tree goes up 2 weeks before the holiday, but I decorate the inside of the house all month. A little here and there every few days. Our grandsons love to look & touch everything. I do put a tree in their rooms and let them decorate it so they will have their own unique decoration to enjoy. I use to be 1 of those people that would leave it all out til after New Year's Day-not anymore. It all starts coming down the day after Christmas and I get the house back to normal. I guess my ideas have changed since I've gotten older. Ginger
