I use coffee grinds as compost. My tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers and herbs are growing like crazy.

I'm very happy with my garden so far this year. I've also learned how to use left over scraps of veggies to grow others. It actually does work.

No garden for me, I donated all my seeds to a community garden! Wishing you ladies luck and green thumbs!

I live in Vancouver and this year's grape tomatoes are a bit disappointing. Other leafy veggies grow pretty well, though.

I also add washed crushed egg shells with coffee grounds to the soil around my tomato plants. Recently I add a spoonful of molasses to my watering can every few weeks . I grow my tomatoes in containers. Also I have been using one green tea bag in two gallons of water to water the plants . I read it really make the plants grow. It does seem to work.

My gardens great... except for my beans. I have either caterpillars/moths/bugs eating all the leaves. I actually sowed twice b/c my first batch was eaten to the ground. Second batch is half eaten.

I've heard you can also use old tea bags in water as an enviromentally friendly pesticide, any gardeners tried this?

Sad green thumb on Jul 22, 2016 @ 05:07 pm

I am fighting some serious critters issues I planted spinach onion green onion and jalapeño and Italian peppers and lettuce 3 types of tomatoes carrots broccoli cucumbers and beans and strawberries I haven't gotten to eat a thing yet my yard was hit hard with bugs I replanted so many times they keep eating every thing also planted corn and I'm so frustrated I think fingers crossed I will have a good end to my simmer but really hard start. I did lose all my spinach and peppers which I am so sad about and lettuce hasn't done great with all the heat
On another side note I have these adorable little chipmunks that live under my shed and they keep getting my strawberries I went and bought them peanuts in hopes they don't touch but seems Like they r now just very well fed

Unfortunately my backyard isn't suited for me to have my own garden, I wish it was though!

I wish I had a green thumb. Gardens just don't work when I try them :(

But nice to hear that so many of you have fresh veggies growing, very yummy!
