Hi ladies. I have an iPhone 5. It's about 2.5 years old. Each time I update the software, it gets slower and slower......almost unusably slow. Then if I clear out a bit of space it's a bit better. But I'm avoiding updating now. Anyone else have issues with their iPhone being slow?

Sorry, I'm an android user! Maybe take it to the apple store?

I know there are apps that you can get clean out your phone if your phone is jailbroken. I am not sure if talking about jailbreaking is allowed on this forum though. Those apps would help make your phone run smoother.

I would check storage (Settings>General>Stprage & iCloud Usage) depending on what you have left in there (mb vs gb) go over what you have left storage wise on your phone.. Might suggest deleting some apps you don't use or clearing out pictures by syncing it to your computer and copying them into a file, if you have less than 1gb left on your phone.. If you have quite a bit of space then I would plug your phone into your computer, back it up to iTunes, and then restore it to factory settings and reload your back up.
Another great thing to try is calling their tech support. If you've never called before they usually give you complimentary support :)

Every time that you update your iPhone, the update takes up memory on your phone. That leaves less space for your existing apps to function, or for more apps to be downloaded or updated. It can also remove memory that would be used to store photos and videos. Less memory and space means a slower functioning phone!
You can see how much memory the update will take up before downloading (should say in GB or MB depending on the update and what it includes). Honestly, they're not really worth it most of the time though! You can read what the update will change by clicking "details" before downloading.
Better off leaving it, and just updating your apps on their own! Just like you're doing :-)

Yeah, I still have more than 1gb left. I'll maybe try restore it to factory settings. It's just seeming to get slower with each update. :(. And my husbands android does not have this issue at all. Maybe my next phone will be an android. I just am so used to Apple and how intuitive it is.
