I want to start a subscription to a subscription box company, and i'm very interested in Ipsy... but, there is a $50 shipping fee for the yearly subscription to Canada. Is this fee worth it, or does anyone have any other suggestions for beauty subscription boxes available to us Canadian folk?

I know Topbox is Canadian so you may want to check them out. I'm not sure how they compare to Ipsy though, in terms of products offered.

Thanks girl, I will definitely check it out!

Shipping from ipsy is $4.95 not $50 as you mentioned. I received my very first bag this Jan 2015 and liked it. I plan on getting the Feb bag to see what it is like. I signed up in Dec - after watching many many youtube reviews - for lip monthly, ipsy & birch box 5. Birch box 5 I cancelled within a few minutes from receiving the box. The only thing I like from the box was the box itself. For Feb I signed up for Top Box, which is a Canadian subscription box that I have my fingers crossed as high hopes for the organza bag!
Hope this helps.

I've heard of this box, but haven't subscribed yet. I've never heard of shipping being $50. You might want to go to their website and read their shipping policies. Better yet, just call them and ask.

i meant yearly shipping. if you get a year subscription, it ends up being like 50-60 dollars more than in usa. they boast about it being a $10 bag but for canada it's closer to a 17$ bag.

Ahhhh...gotcha..well you will find anything that comes to Canada will have shipping added onto it. We live in Canada so we get screwed over on the deals that our US neighbors receive. However, I am sure if you check the FAQ page all international orders will have shipping added. Hope that helps
|it's fun but with exchange it's getting pricier on Feb 06, 2015 @ 10:34 pm|
I signed up for a year, last year, when the dollar wasn't so bad, and with the 1 year prepaid deal the bags ended up being about $15.50 canadian per month. It's a fun thing to do, but you won't be able to take advantage of any of the deals they offer because 99% of the vendors won't/don't ship to canada, but if you're willing to go with the grab bag idea, you will end up with a few things you really like. my criticism is that you will get a lot of repeats, I received 7 or 8 gold eyeshadows over the course of a year with 3 exceptions. i personally used almost all the products I received, I gave away some false lashes, some waterproof mascara and a lipstick. I also managed to get enough points to get a couple of things for free reviewing their products. However with the dollar so low make certain it's worth it to you.

I have Ipsy and I'll try to give a fair opinion of it. First of all, yeah it's super annoying how they brag it's 10 bucks a month but for us Canadians it's really not. However, the value you get in the bag will surely be more. This month I peeked at my "glam room" which shows what you're getting before you get it and I'm getting a makeup brush worth 16 bucks and an eyeshadow worth 12 shipping on both if you paid retail. The brush is an angled contour, the eyeshadow is a highlighter, so these are basics I am definitely going to use and are worth more than the bag itself. And those two items are not even half the bag, you get five. Looking on Facebook as well, a lot of people got high valued items worth more than what I got this month so even better for them.
BUT if you are the type of person where you don't want extra makeup around even if you could give it as gifts and you have to have a lot of control over what you buy this bag is not for you. The quiz at the beginning and how you review things after you get them do have an impact on what you get but there will still be disappointments. If you look at this has a service that will allow you to try good brands at a fraction of the cost that may or may not fit into your beauty routine but could create obsessions over products you would otherwise not know of it's amazing. If you think of this service as a purchase as if you're walking into Sephora or something and picking out what you want you're going to be disappointed.
Hope this helped! Sorry for the length.

all of the stuff ipsy sends are samples not the full size only sometimes they do it full sized products. But mind you i have ipsy and its good cause i get new stuff every month!

I've been an Ipsy Subscriber for 2 years, since the Canadian first bag and this month will be my first month without it. So far, I'm not regretting it, if I had stayed I would have ended up with a bag of stuff I wouldn't use because I either already got it from Ipsy or I already own from purchasing. Ipsy is great if you are new to subscriptions or new to make up in general, the new girls are always in love with their bags and super excited. As a Vet, I'm tired of the repeats, not being able to participate in the weekly offers, use coupon codes or enter giveaways. This month, the Canadian charge was just shy of $20. Honestly not worth it for me anymore when all I get is a bag of stuff and none of the perks.
I subscribe to Topbox ($13.44CAD for me) and Birchbox ($14.95CAD) and enjoy them both immensely.
