James Franco is Speaking About His Poor Oscar Hosting

on Apr 01, 2011 @ 11:23 am

CNN's Blog is featuring a quick summary of James Franco’s interview with David Letterman. Last night Franco opened up about his gig as Oscar host. "People said I was under the influence," says the actor. "I've thought about it. I think I know why: I love her, but Anne Hathaway is so energetic, I think the Tasmanian Devil would look stoned standing next to Anne Hathaway. She has a lot of energy!"

Apparently he hasn’t watched the taping back and he says he never intended to do a fantastic job as host anyways… what?!
He says:  "It was never on my list of things to do,It doesn't mean I didn't care and it doesn't mean I didn't try hard, right? But here's the hypocritical thing: Leading up to the Oscars, I couldn't hear enough about how, 'Oh, people don't care about the Oscars anymore, it's dead, it's old, it's at the end of a long awards season, who cares about it?' Well, as soon as you don't host the way you want to, they suddenly care and they won't shut up about it! Suddenly, I can't hear enough about a show they don't care about!"

…sounds to me like he’s blaming everybody but himself for his poor abilities to engage the crowd. What do you think?

fail fail fail.

I guess there's probably no good answer to the question, but he still managed to flub his response.

Agreed! on Apr 01, 2011 @ 01:59 pm

It probably would have been better to just keep hush about it.

Ya he probably should have better prepared an answer to that question....

I can't believe he blamed Anne Hathaway! Especially since she was forced to overcompensate for him. That's so cheap. What a gentleman.
