I am considering Salsa or Latin Ballroom classes with my husband. I live in Toronto, so of course I consulted Google and thought that this should be an easy fast search. WRONG. The websites I did find were incredibly confusing, and had not been updated to show current classes. Has anyone (or does anyone) dance in Toronto? Can anyone offer suggestions or places they have tried?

My husband and I took tango lessons there a couple of years ago and it was FABULOUS! The instructor we had is no longer there, but he remains a good friend of ours. I know for a fact they have salsa and other classes. I would go there again in a heart beat!
There are a couple of reviews on ChickAdvisor for the Spanish Center here (including mine)
Let us know where you end up!

I've been taking lessons from Toronto Dance Salsa for about 6 weeks now. They currently teach in the North York and Downtown Toronto area. (I attend the downtown classes at the Adelaide Club and really enjoy it there!)
The price was $130 for 10 - 1 hour classes and they have multiple levels to learn at. Find out more at TorontoDanceSalsa.ca
They also link you to several places to get the right dance wear and even clubs/social events to help you learn on your own time as well.
Wherever you go, good luck and have fun!

I second techie's recommendation of Toronto Dance Salsa. I started taking classes there in 2007 and in 2008 I became one of their volunteers. It's a lot of fun and a great way to meet new people. They have weekly practice sessions and every other week they organize outings to salsa clubs. They also offer tango and ballroom at the North York location as well as fitness classes such as belly dance and yoga. Let me know if you have questions.

You should try The Joy of Dance Studio at Broadview & Danforth in downtown Toronto (across the street from Broadview subway). They have private and group ballroom / latin dance classes that are suited for beginners and more advanced dancers as well. Their online dance class schedule is updated regularly too:
Hope this helps...
|City Dance Corps on Dec 02, 2009 @ 03:48 pm|
City Dance Corps at Queen and Spadina offers Salsa classes for all levels. Though I have tried and enjoyed several of their classes, I have yet to try their Salsa, but have been wanting to. Salsa is actually their specialty, so you should receive some quality training! I believe you can also book private lessons.
They just moved to a quaint new location on Queen St. W., so you can take advantage of the shopping while you're there!

Dance With Me Toronto has two locations. One in North York and one in the heart of Toronto. My boyfriend and I took a session of salsa classes there. It really just makes everything much more fun! They offer such a variety of different types of dances, you can switch it up! Check them out, nicest and most professional instructors. My friends ended up joining us 2 weeks in. Check them out (http://dancewithmetoronto.com).
