Hunting season is coming up and I find it kind of sad. I realize some deer don't survive the winter anyways etc. but it's sad that they have to be shot. Remember the Bambi movie "man is in the forest" told to Bambi by mom?So true; sometimes the worst animal is man

I agree I also think it is so sad and to be honest I could never hurt or shoot a animal. I know it is considered a sport but I just don't want no part of it. I love animals and it seems to be affecting me eating meat. My husband and stepson love steaks, burgers just meat every day. So I have been trying to cook more meals without so much meat and still having lots of flavor.

It's not sad if they are killed for food.
Can't be a hypocrite and eat meat but not expect an animal to die for that food.
In my culture, we kill for food not sport.

agreed chrissyann123 Yes I know people like their meat and an animal has to die fredamans, and noone is a hypocrite if they don't eat meat. I myself am not a hypocrite and understand fully how my meat got here AND feel guilty (to the point that I am eating less of it and will eventually not eat any at all) Don't forget it's not just hunting; many animals are tortured in slaughter houses to feed man.

And yes fredaman IS sad they are killed for food I don't expect a nod of agreement; we're all different and I don't mean to offend

I can understand both sides of the issue. On one hand, we wouldn't want the animal to suffer a painful death for the sole pleasure of the hunters. However, as Fredamans stated, animals are a source of food, and true hunters must know that it's not just a sport they are taking part of, but that the animal needs to be respected as well. This needs to occur in every stage of their life, that is, while they were living by supporting their natural habitat, in their time of death and in its use afterwards. If they are going to kill the animal for food, they should use every part of it and make sure to not exploit it for its fur or hide. What I don't agree with is displaying the animal's head on the wall as some sort of trophy. I don't know if this started out as a cultural ritual, but I just find it sad.

Agreed prettyrainbow animals are a source of food. Just that killing in the woods is it necessary? There are grocery stores.
