I have a blog, so I have been paid to write/make reviews before.
One of the highest paying ones was a video and blog post I made for Resolve Stain Remover. I got the opportunity through a website called BlogHer. My post is here:
(sorry about the awful pictures, my camera was broken the week I made it)
Since my blog is a fairly small one, I got paid $350 for the video, post and social shares. But once you get bigger, you can make far more.

Also, I am a food blogger, so I have am part of a website called "Food Bloggers of Canada" where I get some opportunities as well.
They pay you to use products (such as a certain type of pasta or granola bar) and post it on your blog. It is pretty competitive, but I have had some luck in the past.

It takes a lot of time and effort to making blogging profitable on a regular basis.
I know two influential bloggers in the Ottawa area personally, and they make a little bit of fun money, but could not live off what they make - and their blogs are extremely popular not just in our area, but nation and worldwide.
I have been to several fancy smancy events as my one Blogger friends plus one, so if you're okay with non-monetary perks, you certainly can get spoiled once you are in the middle of Blog world.
