Quebec City

Hey girls! My hubby and I are doing a weekend trip to Quebec City, leaving Friday morning and coming back Sunday. We've been to Quebec City several times before but we usually spend most of our time wandering around the old port. So I'm wondering if anyone has any good suggestions on activities we can do, places to go see, etc. Also, we are driving from Ottawa, are there any cool attractions along the way?

I think I've read a long time ago there are cheese factories in Quebec. Any good suggestions that's close to Quebec City or along the drive?

Thanks!!

Hi Bubblybunny, weekend trip to QC sounds amazing! Haven't been there in so long. But, back on the subject of looking for cheese factories, or just great food in the city - have you checked the chowhound forum? It's a site devoted to good eats and usually you can find this type of info there. If not, post the question and I'm sure many people will reply with 'chow' worthy suggestions.

Since we're on the subject of food, how about dropping by Schwarts for a Montreal Smoked Meat Sandwich?

Smoked meat plans already in the works!! on Apr 09, 2008 @ 10:44 pm

Thanks for the chowhound suggestion, samuraiya!! I looked up the website and I think it'll be really helpful. If I remember correctly, there are a lot of pretty expensive restaurants in Old Quebec. I don't mind paying for a nice romantic dinner, but it better be darn delicious!! I'll definitely check out the recommendations before blundering into a restaurant!

As for smoked meat, we LOVE schwartz's smoked meat!! It's THE BEST!! We've already worked our travel plans to fit in a smoked meat stop. Hahah...Yummy! I can't wait!! :D

Have an amazing time! I love that city. It's so gorgeous. I always tour the old town too, so I can't be of much help, but definitely do your research on restaurants like samuraiya suggested. I wish we had more reviews for cities like that so you could find them here. One day... :) For eating, I would avoid the old town as most restaurants are really over priced and not good at all. You will have to look for restaurants that are just outside the old town for better food. Have an amazing time and take lots of pictures!
