Recently I'd experienced a wee smattering of disappointment in my topbox sub box...long story short I messaged them via FB and someone contacted me and had said they'd send some extra goodies to make up for the mishap. My next months box came sans the extras. Now I'm not greedy but I had paid for the box, voiced my opinion, THEY offered to placate me and then they didn't? So I remessaged and obviously it was a different rep who replied (mind you there were only two or three prior messages-all yet showing in the same window so it wasn't as though they'd have even had to scroll up to familiarize themselves with whatever it was I was asking about) and they were like oh so sorry I'm not sorry that's how it works you get what you get. Again, not greedy but at this point I did see red...umm while I don't disagree with you customer service rep I think you may want to make sure everyone else is on board with the tough love methods because NO I SHOULD NOT GET WHAT I GET WITHPUT GETTING UPSET. I didn't really want anything concrete per se I just wanted to let them know I was less than impressed.
So this months box comes and yo know what is in it as well? A STUPID RAZOR. I'm guessing the very one they are sending out in the glam sense program? Which if I'd qualified I'd have been happy to receive but THAT IS MEANT TO BE MY CONSOLATION?
Geez I sound spoiled rotten, but darn it I spend money every month on their service and have for ages I would've liked to at any point have at least felt heard.
I'm right toted to cancel.

That sucks! I'm pretty happy with the value I got from Ipsy, but I had considered Topbox because I hate not knowing what I'm missing. Haha think I'll steer clear, I hate bad customer service!

So... on Apr 18, 2016 @ 11:34 pm

Ipsy costs me over twenty bucks and I have yet to feel the wow factor...I can't really determine its value as I don't recognize some of the brands and the others are NYX or Pixi and I know what the cost of those items are in the states and quite frankly the shoppers drug mart carries NYX now (over priced for sure lol but STILL) plus Ipsy ticks me off as they dangle these potential receivable products yet I never actually receive them I always get the same thing.
But when I got my ipsy in the mail the other month the hair product had opened to leak EVERYWHERE, ruing everything else they sent another bag TOOT SUITE (lol) plus an additional eye liner.
TopBox ticked me off royally but in its defence it costs me all of twelve dollars and you actually DO get to pick what you get, if you chose the 'prive' box there's a description as to what you'll get. I'll tag you in some photos on IG of past TopBoxes.
I'm of two minds as to if I should bother following up with my continued dissatisfaction or not. I don't like feeling like a moaner and complainer.
But yeah come on team customer service keep up

I was happy with my box as well! I love their prive boxes and I think you get great value for the price ($13.50 Canadian). I've only dealt with their customer service a couple of times and did not have any issues. Sometimes they are a bit unorganized though and do miss products, I've had that happen to me. I hope you eventually get the compensation from them (sometimes in takes a month or two).

My experience on Apr 19, 2016 @ 03:51 pm

I had subscribed to ipsy myself since December and like mentioned by Cuppedcakes there was no wow factor and I never recognized any brand I had received. Also every bag I received I got lipstick. I don't wear it and I put that in my profile. NO LIPSTICK. Oh well so I cancelled and started with Topbox. Just got my first one yesterday and I am impressed. Razor, lipliner(I dont wear lipstick I know but this is a neutral shade which works with capstick LOL I tried it) Age defying serum, foundation primer and mascara. And coupons. I dare say that is way better than anything I got from ipsy in 5 month for less than half of what ipsy charged.

I redeemed points for a bonus product on ipsy.
I never did receive it.
I contacted Ipsy and they said they sent me
another one. I still didn't get it. It has been
months. So I don't think I will review much
on Ipsy if I can't take advantage of the points.

I received both Ipsy and Topbox yesterday. I received products I like in both, however Topbox was the winner for me thus month!

The Razor... on Apr 20, 2016 @ 12:01 pm

The Razor included in the Topbox is not the same razor included in the Glam Sense program.

For some reason, my December Topbox was sent for shipping, and got stuck in Mississauga. She sent it out again, and it got stuck in York (still there as per Canada Post); so she sent out a third Topbox and it arrived.

I've been with Topbox for a few years, and I waited a fair period between inquiries and boxes getting "stuck," as generally mail is quick and accurate.

The Glam Sense razor is pretty amazing - it even has a battery operated trimming end for your bikini line - sweet!

The normal razor is also rather decent quality compared to a normal BIC - and probably retails about $7-$8.

I usually get the full months out of most of the samples, longer with the full sized Topbox items.

I understand you are frustrated right now - hopefully Topbox will make it up to you too! Their customer service is generally good and responsive.

Topbox, Ipsy and More! on Apr 20, 2016 @ 12:26 pm

I have been subscribed to Topbox a couple of years now and have been very happy with both my boxes and have had good luck any time I have needed to contact Customer Service - sorry to hear your experience has not been good!

I did Ipsy for about 6 months and wasn't all that thrilled - so I cancelled. Have been thinking of giving it another go - but with the dollar exchange just doesn't seem a great value right now.

There is a new Sub Box in Canada called BabeBox - has anyone tried it yet?? It is $20 Canadian - but I am waiting for some reviews before I give it a try. According to their website it is a mix of beauty, fashion and accessories perhaps - info is a little vague.

Sephora has also launched a monthly box called Sephora Play and I know there is a waiting list! I am on the wait list and am hoping by the time it is available to Canadian Gals my name will be on the list - lol! I'll keep you posted when I hear!
