Fair warning: this may turn you off Coke forever. If you're brave enough... read on.
So apparently, according to this article on wikihow, Coke is not only a delicious beverage but can also be used to clean toilets.... yay?
I don't know if I fully believe this, but it certainly would be less expensive than toilet bowl cleaner. The article says that Coke will break down sludge and stains. However, the sugar in Coke may leave the bowl sticky and can cause bacteria to build up. So you shouldn't leave it in long and you may have to clean it again afterwards or rinse it out. I think in this case, the Coke is meant to rid the bowl of stains. In any case, here's the break down of the how to:
Step 1: Pour in
Step 2: Wait at least an hour
Step 3: Use brush if needed
Step 4: Flush
Full instructions here.
Would you ever do this? Have I turned you off Coke forever?

Well I heard a while ago that they use Coke to clean blood/other stains off highways after bad car accidents. Yet, I continue to drink it. So no this doesn't turn me off, just gives me one more use for it haha!

I've never been a fan of Coke, as I find it way too harsh - so this makes perfect sense.
Great taste/Hard on stomach on Mar 17, 2013 @ 09:53 pm
I am a coke drinker but drink a lot less than I used to. I love the taste of coke but find it hard on the stomach as I get older.
I am going to try using it on hard water stains in the toilet and see what happens.

I don't drink these kinds of drinks anyway, but I do want to try this for sure!
Anything that keeps the throne shining is great! But I got a question, does the sweet smell linger? I mean what if someone has ants or bugs? Will this attract them?
The crap they sell... on Mar 19, 2013 @ 12:00 am
I had never heard of cleaning a toilet with it but I did hear about using it to unclog a drain!
Of use at some point on Jul 04, 2013 @ 02:50 am
I do not like soft drinks like Pepsi and Coke, and I am happy that it is used to clean toilets because I do not like the taste but it's of use somewhere.
too expensive on Jul 04, 2013 @ 08:11 am
I don't buy that this is cheaper than toilet bowl cleaner, although I shop sales and use coupons so perhaps I spend less than some other people. Often I use all-purpose cleaner (store bought or homemade) and for heavy scaling I use a pumice stone. For the sugary residue reasons alone (attract insects, etc) I am not sure I'd try this.
not, but ready to try on Aug 15, 2013 @ 11:16 am
WoW!!! Never tried this one! I do have some stains I want to get rid of and I was thinking to use vinegar. Usually I clean the toilet with bleach. Cheap, fast and effective.
never heard of coke cleaning highways on Aug 15, 2013 @ 11:17 am
now I did! Interesting how much one can learn about a product! For sure I will never, ever drin it again!
No coke on Sep 26, 2013 @ 11:40 pm
I don't drink coke so it doesn't put me off. If only coke could be banned. Lol
