Hi Ladies - Need your help. My hubby and I are looking to take a vacation after the christmas holidays (probably January). We can't seem to find anything. Here's what we've discussed:

New York (but not sure how it will be getting around in the dead of winter)
Renting a chalet up north (blue mountain?)...but neither of us are skiers.
Old Quebec city - again - not sure about the winter thing...
Going south - DR, cuba etc.

Any suggestions. I'd love to go to an island - but, they're so expensive - I'd rather not do a cuba, DR thing. However, the other caribben islands seem so pricey. But, if you know of any great secret reasonably priced places that would be great.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Even if it's from my list above, if you have any suggestion on how to do New York in the winter, please advise.

Thanks gals! We work very hard seven days a week - any suggestions would help out!

ali-de-bold	Jamaica, Mon! on Oct 04, 2009 @ 10:52 pm We went to Jamaica for the first time last February and LOVED it! We went to Montego Bay on a deal from TripCentral.ca. We stayed at a 5 star resort (Iberostar) and paid approx $1700 each (all in) which included everything - even transportation from the airport to and from the resort. It was worth every penny as we didn't have to worry about a thing and the resort was gorgeous, great food and ideal weather! It really depends what your budget is and how long you want to get away for. If you're not skiers, going somewhere cold in Winter might not be as much fun as you'd like. I'd go to Jamaica again in a heart beat.

meredithk115	NYC NEVER SLEEPS on Oct 05, 2009 @ 10:30 pm that is my BIGGEST complaint about Toronto...that in the winter, I feel like the entire city hibernates...it is NOT like that in New York (which in case you haven't noticed is my 'hood). You can do practically everything there at almost any time :) sigh I love NY I have a ton of suggestions for NY...message me and I will send you the very long list!

spotty	St Maarten on Oct 06, 2009 @ 10:46 am My husband and I are traveling to St Maarten (Dutch Antilles) in November for our belated honeymoon (we just celebrated anniversary #1). I can let you know how that place is once we get back! Though I may not be much help. We have 5 days of absolutely NOTHING planned ... on purpose!

becky	wow Jamaica sounds awesome!!! on Oct 12, 2009 @ 11:19 pm did the 1700$ include air fare or was that extra? and have TONS of fun on ur honeymoon spotty!!! :) a week of nothing to do with your lifepartner beside you sounds like BLISS :)

misslissa	Hawaii on Oct 25, 2009 @ 10:53 am I hear great thing lately about how affordable it is to go to Hawaii now. With the recession and all the tourism is really starting to drop. i'm sure you could fin something super cheap and work on a nice golden tan. Also Vegas is really cheap (depends on what kind of vacation you are looking for) I would love to lounge around a pool all day and then party like a rockstar in the evening. I am definitely going to Vegas next year. I'll probably go in the spring. And seeing as you want to go to an island but want something affordable try places in Florida. I know it's not as exotic but i'm sure there are great packages and affordable rates going on now.

ali-de-bold	Answer to Becky's question on Oct 25, 2009 @ 02:39 pm Hi Becky, the $1700 per person included everything: Flight, ride from the airport to the hotel, all food, hotel, everything. You literally don't need to spend another penny, aside from tips or if you want to buy a souvenir.

ali-de-bold	We just booked another trip! on Nov 02, 2009 @ 09:45 am Based on the great experience we had with our Jamaica trip last year, my family and I just booked a week in Puerto Plata through TripCentral.ca again. 4.5 star hotel, 1 week for $2514 per couple. I think that's an awesome deal. Because we were booking a few families I did it on the phone instead of online to make sure there was enough room for all of us and was really impressed with the excellent customer service. I spoke to two agents (Jennifer and Rachel) over a couple of days and both really took their time to give advice on where we should go, which flight options we should choose and making sure the booking was organized so all of our rooms would be close together. Rachel even stayed late past closing to ensure that my booking got through, never making me feel rushed. If you are looking for an all inclusive leaving from Canada, the prices are fantastic and the service even better.
