I know that there are tons of fantastic and unexpected around-the-house uses for vinegar ...and I'm hoping all you home-divas will share your knowledge.
To get the ball rolling here are my faves:
1. 1-2 cups of vinegar in your laundry will always make your towels, and clothes smell clean and fresh. If something is a bit stinky, put 2 cups of vinegar in the wash and put it in the 'soak' cycle. Bonus - vinegar in cold water acts as a colour-fastener as well... helping colours not run
2. Salt stains on your shoes/boots? As soon as possible wipe the area down with vinegar on a paper towel
3. Keep your drains running well and smelling fresh... when you change your baking soda, don't discard it. Put it in your drains (bath, kitchen whatever) and then pour vinegar in. Let if fizz for 5-10 minutes and then flush with water. Totally effective ... even on century homes. A plumber taught me this when I lived in a 90yr old apartment!
Please share yours :)

I used vinegar/baking soda for my toilet bowls.
I used vingar/baking soda mix to sanitize toys.
When i boil fish, I put a teaspoon of vinegar. it helps preserve fish longer in the fridge leftover.

Thanks for these, Chicks! I love vinegar... always on the hunt for cheap vinegar since I go through it so fast!
And I have to say I have to try the fish thing! My mom used to do something like that... and I never knew why!! Angelina - you always have interesting things to say!
Bren581- I've always used 1/2 teaspoon of bleach with the sugar in my vases... interesting. Must try an experiment with 2 vases and see which one lasts longer :) And I am definitely going to try the veggie tip! I totally see vinegar adding shine to hair!
So funny - on TV I just saw Charles the Butler mention the vinegar for colour-fasting trick.

While cleaning the kitchen... 1/3 vinegar solution in a bowl in the microwave set to boil the water. Let it sit for about 5 minutes without opening the microwave, and then just open and wipe it all down. All the stuck on bits just wipe off.
