Wedding Dress and/or Wedding Bouquet ~ Preservation

on Apr 15, 2015 @ 12:59 pm

I was curious to know if any of you had your wedding gown and/or wedding bouquet preserved?

I had both preserved and I'm so happy that I did.  I loved my wedding dress so much that I couldn't bear to part with it.  It's perfectly preserved in a display box so that I can enjoy it.  My daughter loves to take a peek and imagine herself wearing it for her wedding day.

I know that fashions change and that my daughter or granddaughter for that  matter might not be interested in wearing it but I'm sentimental and hope that it can be lovingly used by the women in my family.

My bouquet has been preserved in a stunning frame reminiscent of the Victorian era.  I pass by it every day and it reminds me of that special day where I felt so fortunate to be walking down the aisle to marry my soul mate.

Our wedding day is a priceless moment in time and the gown we select brings out the inner and outer beauty that glows for all to see.  It's our day to be the belle of the ball and let everyone see just how joyous we are.

I've provided a link to a gown preservation website just in case you're considering having your gown preserved.

I sold my wedding dress a week after my wedding and was able to make a profit on it. I bought it off ebay. Beautiful dress, but I don't believe in spending a fortune for a dress you wear for one day. Nor do I believe in a wedding being all about the bride. Seeing my husband's face every time I go to sleep and wake up is reminder enough of our vows to each other.

Our wedding was about the both of us of course but the fairytale dress was something that I always dreamed of and it was important to my traditional father that his daughter have the wedding of her dreams. He only has one daughter and the wedding preparations was as much a joy for him as it was for me. It's a family tradition that will continue with my only daughter. Every wedding is unique and special. Whether small or big, modest or fancy the moment the bride walks down the aisle and her groom looks up at her with love and hope in his eyes they are embarking on a journey that will be memorable and challenging. My husband absolutely loved my dress. He is the kind of man that notices such things; that's why we are a perfect fit. He was dressed like a fashion model and looked so dashing. Our wedding day was about celebrating both of us and I think back on it with such fondness.

A dress might not be important for some brides but I'm a sentimental romantic and my dress was more than just a purchase for a day. I'm glad I preserved my dress and will offer this gift to my daughter someday.

My husband had all these surprises planned for me on our wedding day and he was equally gifted because he is a loving person worth honouring. After all these years he is still the man of my dreams.

I'm glad that you found your Mr. Right. :-)

I didn't have mine preserved since it was my 2nd wedding, but I still have my dress and my bouquet. It's important for me to keep these things for myself. I still have my blue and white lace garter and my husband has his entire suit. I hope to 1 day fit in my dress again to wear on 1 of our milestone anniversaries. It's just a simple dress in ivory with a beautiful blue flowered silk scarf that ties on the bodice. It's very sentimental to me because it's the day I married my soul mate and 20 years later, I love him more each day. To each his own. I'm glad OceanSunrise you preserved yours. I would love to see a photo of it. Ginger.

Thanks for sharing Big Sister! I knew
that you’d understand since we are both alike.
I kept every single item from my wedding day. Everything is lovingly stored in my hope
chest. My daughter and I love taking out
every cherished piece. She shares with
me her hopes and dreams as she dreamily looks at every single item. One day it will be her turn to plan her
special day. These physical treasures
are a visual link to a day that is a reminder of how lucky I am to be married
to such a thoughtful and supportive man.

Since I’m an avid collector, I can’t imagine not having these physical reminders
to hold in my hands. Being sentimental
is part of who I am and I wouldn’t want to be any other way.

You looked so lovely and blissfully content on your wedding day. Your soul mate was worth the wait. He seems like a fine man who adores you and
your family. You can’t ask for more than
that from your one true love.

Every bride feels so beautiful on her wedding day. She just has that glow of pure happiness
radiating from every pore in her body. It’s
a euphoric feeling that affects every guest who is part of this sacred
union. What an honour it is to be a
witness at such a touching event.

I’ll share my wedding photo with you one of these days. That was one day where I actually enjoyed
posing for photos.

I’d like to wear my wedding gown once again when we renew our vows. It would be so amazing. My beloved grandmother wore her mother’s
wedding dress for her “Golden Anniversary”.
As you can see, I come from a long line of sentimental ladies. These treasures are a link to the past, that memorable
moment that we hold dear.

I appreciate your kind words. You’re
such a special lady and a thoughtful friend.
