So, we recently had a family member living with us temporarily. The room is a good sized room for a bedroom with a double or twin bed. Upside - big bright windows. Downside - no closet.
Before it was a spare bedroom it was my home office. Dilemna: husband wants a "man cave". double Dilemna: right now it's full of junk and filled with crap that can be stored in our storage area downstairs.
What would you do?

Ohhhhh ... I'd make it into a gorgeous walk-in / dance around / yoga room / closet for ME! I've waited way toooo long to pass this opportunity up! LOL

I would have it stuffed with real plants

Could he have his man cave, but keep a desk and computer in there for your work? You get the room from 8am-4pm, and he can have it in the evenings. Or alternate days?

I like jcb75's idea too ! The storage issur make three piles : Keep , give away and throw away you will be amazed how fast your pile will go down and will not take to much place in your basement after it is all placed . I just had an idea , is the room big enough to put a divider its like a wall but it will divide the space for you and your hubby

That is a tough one...I do agree with jcb75 and tidy69...I think I'd do a good purge...and you have to be in the mood to purge...(it's funny, do it one day get rid of the stuff you already said good-bye to, then wait a couple days and go back through the stuff you were going to keep before you move them....You may find that the pile dwindles again :)
Love the divider idea, but to be honest, in one of our homes I had my computer desk set up in the TV area at the back of the room so hubby and the kids could watch whatever they wanted or play video games and I was still in there with them...and we were spending time together...able to interact...just I was able to do my thing on the computer and not have to watch wrestling or super mario ;) It might work out even better for you! (That is, if you can handle the sound of his shows and games...and if when his buddies come over...take to the TV is the other room for sanity.
All the best!!!

Ahem, seriously though, I'd make a craft/studio room.

Thanks for all the great ideas chicks! And with respect to the junk it's mostly his LOL. Before he met me he never purged and I love to purge so it will be a chore just to get him to get rid of things. He even has the entire garage (it's just a single) for his precious mustang - I can't store hardly anything in there so I'm kind of wanting some me space at least some of the time lol. The only thing that HAS to stay in the spare room is a small freezer. There's nowhere else to put it. But I'm going to think about these ideas and see what might work.
