So I gave my dog a haircut today and put a shirt on him so he will not get cold... he tends to act blah and he does not want to get up or move around much. Does anyone else find this to be true for their pet? He seems to love his sweater... but it does the same to him. He gets less active. Sleeps more.
Does it make him sick? Should I not put shirts or sweaters on him? I live in PA and he is a maltese/poodle

I think it's not the sweater, per say, but maybe just put it on him when you go outside, and not when he is inside.
My Shih Tzu is the same when worn inside. I think it's because it's too warm for her inside with it on. Even after she gets shaved.

If it's a tight fit sweater, it probably is having a calming effect on him, hence the low energy level :)
When we use the thundercoat on our younger pup, and it has a nice calming affect on him during storms or fireworks (that are outside our house during holidays)

I was a bit worried about him as he lays around and acts lethargic when he has a t-shirt or sweater on. I Love the shirts on him, but hate that he seems so depressed! I was also thinking maybe it is like the thunder shirt kind of affect. Hoping it was something like that.
Thank you so much for all the feedback.
Funny story.. He is a rescue and we have had him for two years this past December. My Mom and Dad both went into the hospital this past week and just came home Monday. I stayed with my Mom since she is newly deaf and has a hard time understanding people and scares so easily now** Jumpy when they touch her and so on
I stayed with her at the hospital! Well, when I got home my dog seemed so mad at me. Now, I know he is a grudge holder, but this was WOW! Normally when I get home from shopping he goes nuts jumping, crying, howling! But this day he ignored me. When I picked him up, he turned his head away from me! I was like WOW! He is made that I was gone for a few days... which he was with my son that he is with every single day anyway!
It took him about eight hours before he eased up on me and showed me some attention.
He was from a neglectful/abusive household so has so mental issues

My dog is a small dog I put a sweater on my him for outside walks or until the car warms up. Otherwise I find he gets too hot. Inside I have a large cozy blanket for him so he's not cold and he sleeps on it when he wants too, especially in the mornings. He also gets upset if we are out for a while. He'll look around for a sock to steal, he won't put holes in it, he just wants to show us he has something that he's not suppose to have. He can be a real suck and we love him.
