So I went to new York for Xmas and my bestie came down with a cold on the way to pick me up what luck huh?!? I felt fine until two days after I arrived home which was the 29th. Since that day I have been fighting it I didn't miss work and today I thought I was starting to get better but I had to run errands and now my head is o congested my throat is sore and my left ear is stuffy and a little painful:-( my ear was fine until I started blowing my nose to rid the gross stuff but now I feel like I'm getting worse. Im not dying so I know if I had to I could make it in but I feel like I would be useless especially from the cold medine I have been taking that has mfeeling like a zombie

Firstly, did you take time off from work (if so, how many days) during Xmas time when you went to New York?? Also, if you dont mind me asking, where do you work and what is your position?? Sometimes certain positions are more crucial to be there than others, especially if no one can fill your spot while youre gone!!

All in all, it is really up to you, but if you think you are going to be useless and end up feeling worse, then take the time off. As well, you dont want to get your co-workers sick!! I always hated when horribly ill people came in and I ended up getting it!

I actually just seen on the news a few days ago that companies now prefer there workers to call in if there sick so that the illness doesn't spread.Companies are much better and understanding if you are sick.I would just call in the night before to give your company a bit of time to try find a replacement.Take a few days to heal and get better rest and more rest!

Well... on Jan 02, 2012 @ 10:29 pm

I requested only one day off from work during my vacation. I got lucky enough that we had that weekend off and the Monday after Xmas so the only day I took off was Tuesday. I am a receptionist and there are people to cover for me I just hate having to call off but I know I will be useless I worked two days while sick and it was tough.

Rest Up! on Jan 03, 2012 @ 10:20 am

A year a go, I had this cold but I still went in to my internship, sick and all, thinking that they would praise me for being so determined.

This did not happen. In fact, they were put off by the fact that I had come in sick because they didn't want to get sick. If you are feeling sick, stay home!!! You'll feel better and your colleagues will thank you for not spreading the germy love!

Feel better! :)

stay home on Jan 03, 2012 @ 10:37 am

A day in bed will make all the difference! Call in sick and then put your heinie into bed and don't come out except to eat and use the bathroom. don't take this opportunity to catch up on chores, shopping or errands - that will only prolong your illness. Really wallow in your illness and sleep, sleep, sleep... then sleep some more. Try to avoid meds as these give you the illusion of feeling better which might convince you to get up and be active. Other than a gentle and short walk in the fresh air, you really shouldn't worry about being active when your body is compromised.

Feel better!

I know how you feel... on Jan 03, 2012 @ 08:00 pm

I hate calling in sick too. But, as everyone has already pointed out, there are more pros to staying home and getting better than going into work. Sick days are benefits we have for just this occassion. Don't feel bad about using them. Feel better!
