Hi all. I was just wondering why my knee caps hurt in ballet. They hurt mostly when doing plies, but sometimes on a daily basis as well, like when I'm bending down. I know how to turn out, and I'm pretty sure I'm doing it properly. I take tap, jazz, ballet, and lyrical. My knee caps hurt mostly in ballet, though. This has been going on since I started ballet in early September and has been happening since. I'm not sure if it has something to do with my turnout or the way I bend down when doing plies. Any advice? Thanks in advance.

I wish I could give you some actual advice, but the only thing I can tell you is that you should maybe be speaking to a doctor about this. That way he can make sure there is no underlying cause for the pain. Or talk to a ballet instructor and ask for advice. Maybe there is an exercise you can do to strengthen the knee. Good luck!
