on Jan 23, 2014 @ 11:17 am

my period is 3 days late. I had unprotected intercourse on newyears eve/day. I took a test last week but it was negative. But I have no symptoms of getting my period like I usually do. I dont know what to scared and worried honestly. I dont like not know things. Ive been really fatigued, urinating more, more hungry but nauseous, slight cramping. Any suggestions?

tests can be inaccurate, but that said... on Jan 23, 2014 @ 11:32 am

While at-home tests have a good accuracy rate, they can be wrong. Your symptoms could be due simply to stress or other factors.

Bottom line is you will have to wait a little longer to see. Try an at-home test again when your period is 7 days late (I have been told best accuracy is at 14 days late). You can try to get in with your doc, but most will only test you at 14 days too.

Just try to stay calm as best you can, and I strongly recommend you start taking pre-natal vitamins as early days are pretty important in a fetus' growth. While pre-natals are best, a regular multi-vitamin would also be good. Make sure it contains folic acid - this is one of the most important nutrients a developing baby needs.

And if it turns out you are not pregnant, then the vitamins will still be beneficial to you!

Hope everything works out for you :) We're here for you whether good news or bad.
